Introduction to Handguns 5APR25

Over the years I have found that the vast majority of beginner students are interested in purchasing a handgun, and learning how to use it safely, effectively, and competently. This class is for you.
Handguards are inherently challenging to use, and are dangerous to yourself and your family if used improperly. Having said that, if you wish to use a firearm for self defense, whether inside the home or out in public, invariably you will need to learn the pistol or revolver, because it is most likely what you will have when you need it most.
In this class, we seek to understand how handguns work, how to safely load, unload, and clear malfunctions, and how best to defend yourself with a pistol or revolver in an urban space. Through partnership with the wonderful folks at MPT, we are now able to offer affordable, local education to new firearm owners to answer your most important questions!
Learn:
How to choose a pistol or revolver for defense
How to choose self defense ammunition
How to pass the Firearm Safety Certificate
How to lock and store your weapon
How to load and unload
How to clear malfunctions
How to hold, aim, and fire
How to move safely with the weapon
Real self defense case studies
Myths and reality of tactical anatomy, stopping power, and magazine capacity
Introduction to concealed carry
Firearm cleaning, disassembly, and maintenance
Let’s face it. If self defense was easy, you could just watch a few videos, and “figure it out” by yourself. Good people go to jail every day, because they don’t know what they are doing. Good people become victims of crime every day, because they don’t know what they are doing. Good people get hurt every day because they don’t know what they are doing. The study of firearms and self defense is a complex mixture of history, science, psychology, and physical skill. Weapons are not toys, and if used improperly can result in serious safety and legal consequences.
This class is designed to provide beginners with a solid introduction to the attitude, skill, and knowledge you need to succeed in firearm ownership.
My name is Brian Wang. I have been teaching firearm safety, self defense, and the combat use of firearms for 11 years professionally. I have been a teacher since 2006. I have trained kung fu since 2007. I completed sniper school in 2010. I have been licensed to carry a concealed weapon since 2013. I have traveled the country to learn from the best mentors and take the best instructor certification programs available. I have been to war and watched friends die. I have survived a cruise missile, attack helicopter rockets, artillery, aerial bombing, strafing by infantry fighting vehicle 30mm auto cannon, and disease on the front lines. I have been the victim of burglary, arson, unlawful arrest, and domestic violence. I have eaten bologna sandwiches in jail, and won in court. I am a father and a husband and a small business owner. I have taught over 10,000 students in Florida, Texas, Arizona, Arkansas, Nevada, Ukraine, and California. I own and operate at 300 acre dedicated tactical training facility only 1 hour from the bay area. It is my honor to be your instructor, and to bring you all of this knowledge for free.
I have striven to design a thorough hands on learning experience, with the most detail in the shortest time possible. Expect 50% of your class to be lecture and discussion, and 50% to be hands on with guns, shooting, and moving. You will handle and learn about a variety of modern handguns, including service pistols, combat pistols, pocket pistols, duty revolvers, snub nose revolvers, and pistol like non-gun alternatives.
