Basic Combat Rifle 3AUG25

Basic Combat Rifle is the starting point for all combat rifle and precision rifle training at our school. This class will give you a foundation in weapons handling, moving, and safety so that you can succeed in your future advanced training. 

This class is part of the Combat Rifle School. We schedule small group instruction based upon the your request. This program consists of the following 48 unique five hour modules, plus additional practical and field exercises. Prerequisite:

Combat Rifle Theory

Learn: 

Basic Combat Rifle will introduce to the student all the basic skills necessary for using his primary weapon safely and confidently.

All students will learn safety procedures, ready positions, the 6 primary weapon manipulation drills, zeroing procedures, conventional shooting positions, moving and shooting, and hit all targets at any distance less than or equal to 400 meters (440 yards).  

Manipulations: 

  1. Loading procedure
  2. Unloading procedure
  3. Tactical reload procedure
  4. Emergency reload procedure
  5. Simple Malfunction procedure
  6. Complex Malfunction procedure

Ready Positions: 

  1. Muzzle up (high port)
  2. High ready
  3. Low ready
  4. muzzle down (sul)

Conventional Shooting Positions:

  1. Standing
  2. High kneeling
  3. Low kneeling
  4. Rifleman’s prone

Individual Movement Techniques: 

  1. High crawl
  2. Low crawl
  3. 3-5 second rush

Standards for Precision and Accuracy:

  1. 4 minutes of angle with iron sights or red dots with standard ammunition from unsupported prone, corresponding to 400m effective range on man sized target.
  2. 2 minutes of angle with low power magnified optic and standard ammunition from supported prone, corresponding to 800m effective range on man sized target. 
  3. 1 minute of angle with high power magnified optic, free float barrel, match trigger, and match ammunition from supported prone with rear bag, corresponding to 1600m effective range on man sized target. 

As part of the 1/2 day format for this Combat Rifle Series, we will briefly introduce the following Shooting Fundamentals, then circle back around to fine tune and master them in Fundamentals of Riflecraft:

  5. Sight picture
  6. Front sight focus
  7. Trigger press
  8. Follow through
  9. Reset
  10. Recoil management

Dry practice fundamentals
Slow fire 10 round groups on 4moa target from 25m. 
Zeroing theory and sight adjustment
Confirm zero at 100, 200, 300, 400 meters
Introduction to MOA and Milliradian math
High intensity confidence building exercises

Location:

Our facility is in the mountains 1 hour east of San Jose, 1 hour south from Livermore. Detail directions will be emailed to those who sign up.

We have weapons, magazines, magazine carriers, pistols, holsters, night vision, armor, helmet etc. for you to borrow for free. All you need to do is communicate clearly in advance what you need to borrow, and clean what you used before turning it back in.
We can supply all the ammunition you need for $80 per person per day. We can take cash, Zelle, or Venmo to brian-wang-11
