SUMMARY:Basic Tactical Fieldcraft 9MAR2025
DESCRIPTION:Welcome to 2025 Small Unit Tactics series! \nBuilding on the success of last year’s program\, we have expanded Small Unit Tactics to include a crash course of all the things you need to know on the individual level in order to succeed while conducting operations at the team level. \nBasic Tactical Fieldcraft will teach you how to think and move in a tactical manner\, how to set up your individual equipment\, and introduce tactical concepts such as cover\, concealment\, camouflage\, stealth\, light discipline\, noise discipline\, dispersion\, sectors of responsibility\, setting security\, unit organization\, military terminology\, grenades\, night vision\, the squad’s organic weapons\, and more. \nIt also includes an orientation on our blank fire systems\, a tour of the facility\, and a detailed conversation about weapons and equipment setup so you will know how to prepare logistically for success in the coming months of exciting training.  \nThose who study history find that there are cycles and patterns which repeat themselves\, so if you understand history\, you are able to predict and prepare for the future. In 1775\, the young United States was losing a war against the most powerful military in the world and turned to an expert military instructor from Prussia named Friedrich Wilhelm Von Steuben because the rag tag American militiamen had the heart to fight\, but were not professionally trained soldiers\, and they needed to learn teamwork and tactics. That training is what eventually lead to the defeat of Great Britain in 1783. \nIn 1937 China found itself invaded by a superior imperial Japanese army. The Chinese Communist Party Liberation Army managed to survive the war by the skin of it’s teeth\, it then went on to win a civil war from 1945-1949\, fought the United States in direct combat in Korea in the 1950-1953\, so by the time Ho Chi Minh\, leader of North Vietnam turned to China for military aid during the Vietnam War from 1955-1975\, China was well experienced to teach the north Vietnamese commoner how to fight and win against a technologically superior professional adversary. Leading to the defeat of the United States in 1975. \nThe Soviet Union\, the largest country in the world\, invaded and occupied Afghanistan from 1979 to 1989\, and for 10 years despite having overwhelming advantage in technology and military might\, were defeated by essentially peasants with some old rifles and the occasional shoulder fired anti aircraft missile. What was the secret to their success? American funded guerilla training and tactics. So successful was this proxy war for the Americans\, that it lead to the literal collapse of the Soviet Union\, ending the Cold War. Fast forward to 2021 and the same Afghans who defeated the USSR defeated the United states after 20 years of military occupation by the most powerful military on the planet. \nDo you see the pattern? In each of these cases the underdog\, who starts as a ragtag collection of laymen\, is able to defeat a superior adversary through discipline\, tactics\, and an understanding of combat theory. If history repeats itself\, then when will it be your turn to fight for your freedom\, your sovereignty\, your family\, or your life? When that time comes\, would you rather scramble to survive\, or would you rather learn how to fight now when the sun is shining? \nThe Small Unit Tactics Series consists of five 10 hour immersive classes that will give you a broad introduction to modern fighting tactics. This includes basic tactical theory\, hand signals\, casualty evacuation\, leadership\, and then going all the way into mission planning\, attack\, defense\, ambush\, raid\, night operations\, and more!  \nYou can sign up for classes individually or purchase the entire package of 5 classes for an awesome deal. Each class is technical\, detailed\, and action packed. We offer a both a primary and an auxiliary date for Basic Tactical Fieldcraft\, as this information is critical for safe and smooth advanced training later in the series.  If you can’t make a class you signed up for\, simply email Brian at info@monarchdefense.org and we can credit you or reschedule you for a future date.  \n2025 Small Unit Tactics Series dates: \nBasic Tactical Fieldcraft\, Saturday 18th of January\, 2025.Principles of Patrol\, Saturday 15th of February\, 2025.Basic Tactical Fieldcraft\, Sunday 9th of March\, 2025.Care Under Fire\, Saturday 15th of March\, 2025.Principles of Ambush\, Saturday 19th of April\, 2025.Principles of Raid\, Saturday 17th of May\, 2025. \nPrerequisite: \nYou must have prior safe weapons handling experience.  \nLocation: \nOur facility is in the mountains 1 hour east of San Jose\, 1 hour south from Livermore. SUMMARY:Firearm Safety Class 22FEB25
DESCRIPTION:Monarch Defense’s Firearm Safety Class is the most important class we offer\, and the most important class you will ever take during your self defense training. That’s why it is now free. \nLet’s face it. If self defense was easy\, you could just watch a few videos\, and “figure it out” by yourself. If firearms were easy\, schools such as ours would have no reason to exist. But that’s just not reality. Good people go to jail every day\, because they don’t know what they are doing. Good people become victims of crime every day\, because they don’t know what they are doing. Good people get hurt every day because they don’t know what they are doing. The study of firearms and self defense is a complex amalgamation of history\, science\, psychology\, and physical skill. Weapons are not toys\, and if used improperly can result in serious safety or legal hazards to you and your loved ones. \nThe problem that I often face as a teacher is students who want the “advanced” stuff and want to skip the basics. Folks expect to just buy a gun\, and magically know how and when to shoot bad guys. Some people watch some videos and think they are ready to go straight into fast\, cool training\, but this isn’t how it works. “Advanced” is just another word for “mastery of the basics”. There is no such thing as advanced training; There are only those who have taken the time to develop their foundation\, and those who haven’t. When beginners show up to advanced training without a solid foundation of attitude\, skill\, and knowledge\, all they will find is frustration. Out on the street there are winners\, and there are losers; There are those who mastered the basics\, and those who found out the hard way that they didn’t. This program exists to prepare you for a successful future in protecting yourself\, so that you can make wise decisions regarding buying\, learning\, carrying\, and using firearms. \nOver the last 11 years teaching professionally\, I have strived to design a thorough hands on learning experience which answers all of the questions that you need to know to get started. Information that you can’t just find online\, such as the role of weapons in society\, why peaceful people would have a need for “weapons of war”\, specifically when you can and cannot shoot someone\, the actual crimes that you can prevent with a gun\, real self defense case studies\, hands on comparison between the different types of guns\, so you can understand their real capabilities and limitations (not just Hollywood)\, proper gun handling procedures\, and live fire demonstrations. \nYou will handle and shoot a wide variety of modern firearms\, including pistols\, revolvers\, rifles\, and shotguns. \nLocation: \nOur facility is in the mountains 1 hour east from San Jose\, or 1 hour south from Livermore. If you are an unskilled or inexperienced driver\, give yourself 2 hours to make the drive from most cities of the bay area. We will email detailed driving instructions to you when you sign up. \nSchedule:  \nWe begin together and end together. If you sign up\, plan to stay until we debrief and clean up. \nThis is a two part class: Firearm Safety Class starts at 8am and ends at roughly 4pm. We do not stop for lunch\, although you may bring food and eat during class. The live fire portion of the class is optional and starts at 4pm and goes until about 6pm\, depending on how fast the class learns. \nPrerequisites: \nNone \nRequired Equipment:  \nNotebook and writing utensil\nWater\nSnacks\nLunch\nDress for the weather\nPrescription glasses\, safety glasses\, or sunglasses\nEarplugs or ear muffs\nFirearms are provided\, but you may also bring your own. \nCancellations: \nWe do not offer refunds for discretionary cancellations. If you wish to reschedule a class\, you must email info@monarchdefense.org no later than 1 hour prior to class start\, and you will then be credited with the value of your course\, which you can gift to someone else or use for any future class within 1 year. \nQuestions? Call Brian at 408-892-5460 or email info@monarchdefense.org.

SUMMARY:Principles of Patrol 15FEB2025
DESCRIPTION:Welcome to 2025 Small Unit Tactics series! \nBuilding on the success of last year’s program\, Principles of Patrol returns as the heart and soul of Small Unit Tactics series! This class introduces students to modern tactical theory\, movement in buddy pairs\, fire teams\, and squads\, hand signals\, patrol formations\, battle drills\, fire and maneuver\, tactical leadership\, and the unique American fighting doctrine which was developed centuries ago as a hybrid of Native American and European fighting methods\, and despite being codified by Robert Rogers in 1757\, is still used and taught to this day. \nCase in point\, this highly condensed and efficient introductory class is exactly what our team of seasoned instructors compiled for the all-volunteer 47th Separate Battalion during the summer of 2022\, which later became the 47th Separate Mechanized Brigade of the Ukraine Armed Forces who spearheaded the counteroffensive against Russian occupation during the summer of 2023. These were regular people just like you who made the decision to learn how to fight.  \nThose who study history find that there are cycles and patterns which repeat themselves\, so if you understand history\, you are able to predict and prepare for the future. SUMMARY:Firearm Safety Class 25JAN25
\nThis is a two part class: Firearm Safety Class starts at 7am and ends at roughly 3pm. We do not stop for lunch\, although you may bring food and eat during class. The live fire portion of the class is optional and starts at 3pm and goes until about 5pm\, depending on how fast the class learns. SUMMARY:Basic Tactical Fieldcraft 18JAN2025
SUMMARY:Firearm Safety Class 23NOV24
\nThis is a two part class: Firearm Safety Class starts at 9am and ends at roughly 3pm. We do not stop for lunch\, although you may bring food and eat during class. Beginner’s Live Fire Range day starts at 3pm and goes until 7pm\, or later\, depending on how fast the class learns. In the winter\, we split the class into two separate days. In the warmer months\, we offer them back to back. If you sign up to shoot\, clear your schedule and plan to be at the facility for the entire day. SUMMARY:High Intensity Gunfighting Drills 16NOV24
DESCRIPTION:Welcome to the Winter 2024-2025 Urban Series! This program consists of nine seminars spanning October through March\, that will cover everything you need to know about how to use a modern pistol\, shotgun\, and carbine\, how to navigate and your way through rooms\, doorways\, hallways\, and how to understand the weapon’s role in the greater tactical framework of modern crime\, home defense\, concealed carry\, and SHTF (Shit Hit The Fan\, zombies\, natural disaster\, civil unrest\, etc.). We’ll start with the basics\, going all the way into low light gunfighting\, close quarter battle\, teamwork and tactics\, force on force training with real live adversaries who shoot and stab back\, how to calibrate and use red dots on your pistol\, how to shoot your pistol with speed and precision\, patterning buckshot\, how bullets go through walls and cars\, and so much more! \nEach 10 hour day of training brings you exciting new opportunities for niche topics\, specialized equipment such as Simunition non-lethal weapons and ammunition\, moving targets\, live fire inside our ballistic shoot house from inside a vehicle\, and lots of full speed shooting and moving repetition from the holster to build up your confidence! Meet new friends and mentors along the way as you train together class after class! Don’t have gear? Don’t worry\, we supply all weapons\, ammunition\, holsters\, and protective equipment; All you need to do is bring yourself\, a good attitude\, and a belt.  \nPick your package of any 6 classes! Mix and match whatever fits your skill level\, your schedule\, and your interests for an awesome price of just $124 per class. The first twelve students to buy the package receive an additional 22.5% off\, so that’s only $96 per day of training! This is the reward for those who are bold enough to grab the bull by the horns. Hesitate and you’ll miss out! If during the series you get a schedule conflict\, or want to reschedule a date\, simply email Brian at info@monarchdefense.org to take a credit for something else!  \nWant to join more than 6 classes? Buy the package\, and add additional classes in the series for only $56 each! Sounds crazy\, right? We aim to take care of our loyal students. Ready to look at your calendar?   \nDates included in this series:  \nOctober 19th\, 2024 – Principles of Close Quarter BattleNovember 16th\, 2024 – High Intensity Gunfight DrillsNovember 24th\, 2024 – Fundamentals of PistolcraftDecember 14th\, 2024 –  Home Defense ShotgunDecember 15th\, 2024 – Live Fire Solo CQBJanuary 11th\, 2025 – Performance PistolJanuary 26th\, 2025 – Fundamentals of PistolcraftFebruary 8th\, 2025 – Partner Force on Force CQBFebruary 9th\, 2025 – PDW\, PCC\, and AR PistolsMarch 8th\, 2025 – Advanced Concealed Handgun \nIf a private citizen must conduct armed self defense\, it will invariably be within the urban environment\, such as in and around cars\, parking lots\, homes\, offices\, or local businesses. Thus\, all students of self defense gunfighting should learn how to fight and move and problem solve in the urban environment\, right? \nOh\, but in our industry there is a magical aura around ‘Close Quarter Battle’\, you have to whisper the words…This dark magic is only for the elite\, The Special Navy Delta Recon Green Power Rangers… Yet\, once you actually get in front of one of these “Tier 1” instructors\, you realize that their professional experience has absolutely no bearing on the life and reality of normal people. You hear such nonsense as “I don’t teach CQB to civilians”\, “you cannot do CQB by yourself”\, “kneel down when reloading so your buddies can shoot over the top of your head then wait until someone grabs your armor to pull you up”…Does any instructor have a program that teaches regular civilians how to fight\, defend\, and win inside and around cars\, parking lots\, gas stations\, homes\, and businesses? \nWe do.  \nIn this day of training\, let’s capitalize on the cool fall weather to run high volume\, high round count repetition drills that practice and realistically simulate the movement\, and skills necessary to win a modern day defensive gunfight. Shake out your gear\, build confidence in your ability to safely move with your weapon. Draw from the holster\, and practice teamwork and partner drills.   \n\n\n\nPrerequisite: \n\n\n\nYou must have prior safe weapons handling experience to attend this seminar.  \n\n\n\nTopics:  \n\n\n\nMoving safely with firearmsMuzzle direction\, finger discipline\, fire selector manipulationFootwork for sidestep and turn and faceOne hand and two hand draw from holsterLong gun to sidearm transitionShooting and movingOne handed shooting and hand changeBill DrillEl PresidenteIstanbul DrillMozambique DrillEli Dicken Drill…and many other drills! \nLocation: \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n300 acre private facility in the Diablo mountains 1 hour east of San Jose\, 1 hour south of Livermore. SUMMARY:Fundamentals of Riflecraft 10NOV24
DESCRIPTION:Valeriy Marcus\, master sergeant of the battalion\, called me to his office\, a dark narrow corridor on the first floor of a dilapidated hospital with bunk beds on one side and shelves full of equipment on the other.  \nHe wanted me to give the young 47th battalion marksmen and snipers\, but with what resources? I’m a teacher\, not a magician….He pulled 200 rounds of 7.62x51mm ammunition from under his bed\, his personal ammo\, and asked me to divide it up amongst the students. 200 rounds for 40 students?  \nWe had just returned from our first rotation to the front lines. Sergii and Kot\, two motivated and combat experienced soldiers that Marcus had recruited had asked me to train them\, but now they were dead. Kot was shot 4 times by the enemy while clearing a house\, and died in my arms as I worked to evacuate him Sergii was the pointman and was killed instantly. They had saved their pennies and bought a top of the line American made Savage 110 Precision in .338 Lapua Magnum\, the best scope they could afford\, a nice titanium silencer from Finland\, but had almost no ammo for it\, no training\, and nowhere to train. They never got a chance to shoot that rifle\, as I only had a few hours with them before we went to battle\, and the rifle was later given to me in mint condition.  \nI took stock of the equipment and resources we had in front of us; we had plenty of standard infantry rifles\, a surplus of standard ball ammunition and some captured Russian 7N6M armor piercing 5.45x39mm ammo. We had very few scopes\, but the real problem was scope mounts. Ukranian AK74s didn’t have side scope mounts.  \nA few guys had bought personal weapons\, an AR10 here\, an ar15 there\, a few off-the-books American m14 Cold War battle rifles\, but no ammo for NATO caliber weapons at that time\, no magazines for m14\, no scopes\, no scope mounts\, no steel targets… Dammit. How could I give them the training they needed? \nI wished then that I could bring those eager soldiers to our facility in California. We have every resource a young rifleman needs to train and learn and become confident in his skills. This was July 2022\, early in the war when everyone was tense. We improvised as best we could\, to prepare the boys for their dangerous future. Through a concerted effort from our Monarch Defense students at home\, donors all over the world\, volunteers in Poland and Ukraine\, and soldiers motivated to learn\, I was able to return to Ukraine in September 2022\, carrying on my back all the necessary scopes\, scope mounts\, magazines\, ammunition making equipment\, and we trained and equipped the nascent 47th brigade’s (only a battalion at that time) marksmen\, snipers and rifle instructors.  \nThis is that class:  \nEverything you need to know about how to use a rifle\, in great detail\, with the focus and efficiency of looming life and death conflict\, but with the infinite resources and flexibility of our expansive Northern California shooting school. All rifles are fundamentally the same\, and skill with one type of rifle translates perfectly to skill with larger more capable weapons. This class is for folks who are looking to improve their technical knowledge of ballistics\, zeroing\, mental math\, bullet trajectory\, and shooting fundamentals. We welcome all calibers\, all barrel lengths\, all optical sighting systems. We provide rifles\, scopes\, and magazines free of charge to students who wish to borrow. Come and learn\, meet us and meet the facility\, and then make informed purchases once you know what to buy.  \nWelcome to the much anticipated Fall 2024 Combat Rifle Series! This program consists of six 1-day immersive classes that will cover everything you need to know of how to use a modern carbine or fighting rifle\, and how to understand the tool’s role in the greater tactical framework of modern human conflict\, starting with the basics\, and going all the way into low light fighting\, night vision\, close quarter battle\, teamwork and tactics\, precision shooting out to 400 meters and beyond\, how to use red dots and magnifiers\, lasers\, LPVO and ACOG scopes\, ballistic theory\, and so much more!  \nThe full package of 6 classes gives you an awesome price of $96 per class\, between August 15th and August 31st\, as a reward for those who are bold enough to grab the bull by the horns. Then the price will go back to standard price. Each class is action packed and 10 hours long. If you have a schedule conflict\, you may simply mix and match with future class dates\, to customize your package to your schedule. Email Brian at info@monarchdefense.org for details.  \nFundamentals of Riflecraft is suited to beginners who are just learning to shoot a rifle\, and for experienced students looking to prepare a solid foundation as they get ready to transition to much bigger and more expensive weapon systems to shoot farther. If you are interested in long range precision shooting\, then start here to build your foundation. This class is technical and academic. It is not physically intense\, involves no running or crawling. Plan for 50% of the day to be notebook and whiteboard time. All shooting is slow fire for maximum precision and accuracy. If you are looking for the more physically and tactically intense training\, please see the rest of our Combat Rifle Series.  \nFall 2024 Combat Rifle Series dates: \nBasic Combat Rifle\, Saturday 31st of August\, 2024.Live Fire Battle Drills\, Saturday 14th of September\, 2024.Fundamentals of Riflecraft\, Saturday 29th of September\, 2024.Combat Rifle Optics\, Saturday 12th of October\, 2024. Basic Combat Rifle\, Saturday 27th of October\, 2024.Advanced Combat Rifle\, Saturday November 9th\, 2024.Fundamentals of Riflecraft\, Sunday 10th of November\, 2024.Close Quarters Combat Rifle\, Saturday December 7th\, 2024.  \nPrerequisite: \n\n\n \nYou must have prior safe weapons handling experience. \n\n\n \nTopics:  \n\n\n \nWhat is a rifle\, what does it do\, and what do we do with it? How do bullets fly\, or the study of ballisticsMinutes of angleMilliradiansYards versus metersInches vs centimetersDefining the size of the target for hunting\, fighting\, and target shootingDefining accuracy vs precisionProper zeroing procedureShooting positions\, especially Rifleman’s Prone and Perfect ProneFinding your maximum theoretical effective rangePracticing hold-over and hold-undersDialing for distance vs holding for distanceHow to mount and level scopesComparison of rifle and caliber capabilities and how to select and buy equipmentFirst focal plane vs Second focal plane scopes  \n\n\n \nSchedule:  \n8:45 am Setup\, issue out ammo and weapons 9:00 am Safety brief and theory10:00 am Zeroing\, dry fire\, and fundamentals live fire practice on paper targets3:00 pm steel target practice on our known distance rifle range out to 800 meters/900 yards5:00 pm Debrief\, clean up\, stay and practice on the open range till it gets dark\, or go home  \nLocation: \nOur facility is in the mountains 1 hour east of San Jose\, 1 hour south from Livermore. SUMMARY:Combat Rifle Optics 12OCT24
DESCRIPTION:ACOG vs. LPVO vs. Red Dot & Magnifier \nFor decades\, the Trijicon Advanced Combat Optical Gunsight\, or ACOG\, has been the king of weapon sights\, renown for of it’s toughness\, reliability\, quality\, and compact size\, but in recent years\, the development of smaller\, lighter\, and more capable low powered variable scopes has challenged the traditional notion that glass optics can only be used for long range shooting. Let’s also not forget the classic red dot and magnifier combination\, pioneered by EoTech\, that gives users both ideal speed in low light and at close ranges\, and also increased capabilities to identify and engage targets at distance. Which of these is the best? How do you use all of these various types of scopes on a general duty carbine?  \nCarbines that once used to be considered good for only 200-300 meters with iron sights these days have gained the advantages of free floating barrels\, match triggers\, quality ammunition\, and can easily hit targets out to 600 meters or more with the right training\, skill\, and optical sighting device. \nIn this specialty seminar let’s understand the unique niche that the Low Power Variable Optics\, ACOGs\, and Red Dot + Magnifier sights holds in the modern age of sporting and combat weapons\, allowing users to shoot faster\, and farther\, greatly extending a carbine’s flexibility and precision while still maintaining light weight\, a low profile\, reliability\, toughness\, and good close range weapons handling.   \nLearn how to maximize the strengths of your optic\, while mitigating and overcoming it’s weaknesses. Gather specific tips on zeroing\, range estimation\, reticle selection\, and engaging targets both near and far. If you have recently acquired a surplus ACOG through our school’s group buy\, or are considering purchasing one\, this is a great class for you to learn all about what it can do\, what it can’t do\, and how to use it. If you are looking to upgrade the sighting system on your rifle\, attend this class first before you potentially waste thousands of dollars on poor quality gear. We provide rifles and scopes for you to borrow!   \nWelcome to Part 4 of the Fall 2024 Combat Rifle Series: Combat Rifle Optics \nThe full package of 6 classes gives you an awesome price of $96 per class\, between August 15th and August 31st\, as a reward for those who are bold enough to grab the bull by the horns. Then the price will go back to standard price. Each class is action packed and 10 hours long. If you have a schedule conflict\, you may simply mix and match with future class dates\, to customize your package to your schedule. SUMMARY:Fundamentals of Riflecraft 28SEP24
DESCRIPTION:Valeriy Marcus\, master sergeant of the battalion\, called me to his office\, a dark narrow corridor with bunk beds on one side and shelves full of equipment on the other. Kot was shot 4 times by the enemy while clearing a house\, and died in my arms as I worked to evacuate him. Sergii was the pointman and was killed instantly. \nFall 2024 Combat Rifle Series dates: \nFall 2024 Combat Rifle Series dates: \nBasic Combat Rifle\, Saturday 31st of August\, 2024.Live Fire Battle Drills\, Saturday 14th of September\, 2024.Fundamentals of Riflecraft\, Saturday 28th of September\, 2024.Combat Rifle Optics\, Saturday 12th of October\, 2024. Close Quarters Combat Rifle\, Saturday November 9th\, 2024.Advanced Combat Rifle\, Saturday December 7th\, 2024.  \nAlternate Dates: (In case you miss the earlier dates and still want to join for the later advanced classes) \nBasic Combat Rifle\, Saturday 27th of October\, 2024.Fundamentals of Riflecraft\, Sunday 10th of November\, 2024. SUMMARY:Firearm Safety Class 21SEP24
SUMMARY:Firearm Safety Class 24AUG24
\nThis is a two part class: Firearm Safety Class starts at 9am and ends at 3pm. SUMMARY:Fundamentals of Riflecraft 28JUL24
DESCRIPTION:Valeriy Marcus\, master sergeant of the battalion\, called me to his office\, a dark narrow corridor with bunk beds on one side and shelves full of equipment on the other. \nWe had just returned from our first rotation to the front lines\, and two guys Marcus had recruited who had prior combat experience with scopes rifles were killed. They had saved their pennies and bought a top of the line American made rifle\, the best scope they could afford\, a nice titanium silencer from Finland\, but had almost no ammo for it\, no training\, and nowhere to train. They never got a chance to shoot that rifle\, it was passed to me in mint condition. Through a concerted effort from our Monarch Defense students at home\, donors all over the world\, volunteers in Poland and Ukraine\, and soldiers motivated to learn\, I was able to return to Ukraine in September 2022\, carrying on my back all the necessary scopes\, scope mounts\, magazines\, ammunition making equipment\, and we trained and equipped the bourgeoning 47th battalion’s (later brigade) marksmen\, snipers and rifle instructors.  \nThis is that class: everything you need to know about how to use a rifle\, in great detail\, with the focus and efficiency of looming life and death conflict\, but with the infinite resources and flexibility of our expansive Northern California shooting school. \nThis class is suited to beginners who are just learning to shoot a rifle\, and for experienced students looking to prepare a solid foundation as they get ready to transition to much bigger and more expensive weapon systems to shoot farther. If you are interested in long range precision shooting\, then start here to build your foundation. This class is technical and academic. It is not physically intense\, involves no running or crawling. Plan for 50% of the day to be notebook and whiteboard time. All shooting is slow fire for maximum precision and accuracy. If you are looking for the more physically and tactically intense training\, please see our Combat Rifle Series.  \nPrerequisite: \n\n\n \nYou must have prior safe weapons handling experience. \n\n\n \nTopics:  \n\n\n \nWhat is a rifle\, what does it do\, and what do we do with it? How do bullets fly\, or the study of ballisticsMinutes of angleMilliradiansYards versus metersInches vs centimetersDefining accuracy vs precisionProper zeroing procedureShooting positionsFinding your maximum theoretical effective rangePracticing hold over and hold undersDialing for distance vs holding for distanceHow to mount and level scopesComparison of rifle and caliber capabilities and how to select and buy equipmentFirst focal plane vs Second focal plane scopes  \n\n\n \nSchedule:  \n8:45 am Setup\, issue out ammo and weapons 9:00 am Safety brief and theory10:00 am Zeroing\, dry fire\, and fundamentals live fire practice on paper targets3:00 pm steel target practice on our known distance rifle range out to 800 meters/900 yards5:00 pm Debrief\, clean up\, go home  \n\n\n\n\n \nLocation: \nOur facility is in the mountains 1 hour east of San Jose\, 1 hour south from Livermore.
