Those who have much to lose and much to protect, those who are peaceful by nature but recognize the certainty of human conflict, come and learn. You are welcome here. Fueled by love and tempered with discipline, honed to a razors edge by repetition and attention to detail, you are the sheepdog, the warrior scholar.
This is an introductory level class on firearms in the context of self-defense. It is a primer to the attitudes, assumptions, and skills you may need in time of violent crisis. While in no way can a one day class be comprehensive for the vast subject of self-defense, it is an affordable, safe, and gently paced opportunity for the new shooter to learn, ask questions, and make mistakes in a guided and safe environment free from prejudice and elitism. In this class we strive for an even balance of 50% education, discussion, and thought. The remaining 50% is hands on training that starts with a calm tempo and concludes with a sample of high intensity defensive handgun exercises.
We will discuss and train on these topics:
Universal principles of gun safety
The role of the personal firearm in modern society
Understanding human conflict
Defining the framework of self-defense
Introduction to the modern pistol and revolver
Human anatomy and the need for surgical precision
Proper selection of self-defense ammunition
Slow, meticulous, efficient weapon manipulation
Fundamentals of marksmanship
Non-diagnostic clearance of simple malfunctions
Smooth, efficient, fast presentation from ready positions
Slow, consistent, safe use of the holster
The path to continuing education
