This live fire range event is hosted by the Veteran Student Organization at San Jose State University in conjunction with Brian Wang of Monarch Defense. It is an opportunity for beginners to experience shooting a live weapon in a safe and controlled environment, or for experienced shooters to gain exposure to a broad range of firearms and calibers, have fun on the range, and work with professional instructors on a plethora of questions and discussion topics relating to firearm ownership, self defense, and tactical training.
If you have your own firearm and ammunition, you are welcome to bring them, so long as you are willing to share.
This event is open to all VSO members, their families and friends. We look forward to sharing an exciting day with you in the great outdoors to learn about firearm safety or self-defense, and to make some noise.
Date & Time:
Saturday February 15th, 2020
9:00am to 4:00pm PST
Coyote Valley Sporting Clays
1000 San Bruno Ave, Morgan Hill, CA 95037
We will be using a private range, not the public sporting clays course. You can draw from the holster if you like. We will have a safety briefing on holster safety in the morning. We will have steel targets for you to use, to include a dueling tree and plate rack, as well as plenty of loaner holsters and firearms to go around.
We will take a break for lunch. There is a very nice BBQ caterer who serves customers at the range. Please bring cash. Drinks, snacks, and other amenities are also available at the Pro Shop at Coyote Valley Sporting Clays.
In the afternoon we can do some shoot and move self defense drills, to include engaging multiple targets, and team work exercises. This is subject to the experience level of the shooters and the needs of the greater group. Since we will have shooters from a vast array of skill levels, we will need to be conscious of everyone’s needs and interests.
