• Study groups are cost effective, flexible, casual, and high quality opportunities to train in an intimate small group environment with your instructor, and fellow students of a variety of skill levels. Study Groups are a hybrid between private custom training, which can be prohibitively expensive, and open enrollment group classes, which can be busy and chaotic and at inconvenient times. If you have scheduling flexibility and you want to train in a semi-private and more intimate manner for a wide variety of topics, consider joining our new Study Group program.

To join, please submit $.01 using the online checkout on this page, and contact Brian at info@monarchdefense.org for questions.

10 am to 6pm or whenever we finish

Valley of Orion. 9 miles east of Mt. Hamilton, and in the vicinity of San Antonio Valley. 1.5 miles east of SJC, 1 hour south from Livermore. Detail directions will be emailed to those who sign up.

Meet down on the range, make yourself comfortable, meet the other students and prepare your equipment. If you need to borrow gear, we will issue it out. We’ll go around for introductions, and lay out a purpose and scope for the day’s training, then stretch and begin.

Possible topics include the in depth review of ballistic trajectory, the science of ammunition, shooting for groups on paper at 25, 50, 100 and 200 yards, zeroing iron sights, red dot sights, and magnified optics, then engaging steel out to the limit of your capabilities. As you might imagine, we will draw material found in a variety of Fighting Rifle and Precision rifle class offerings- in other words, an excellent opportunity for review, refinement and repetition.

Expect to help set up the range, then we’ll conduct dry practice review of loading, unloading, ready positions, movement or whatever you need to become familiar with your weapon system’s controls. Then we will go hot for fundamental marksmanship practice, shooting slowly for groups, and at the very end, we can do some high intensity dynamic training.

When the group gets hungry, we’ll break for lunch. When the group is tired and happy, we’ll clean up and head home. Very simply, very flexible, very casual. This is a mixed skill level semi-private class. Expect the class size to be 4-6 students.

There are no prerequisites.

Required Equipment:
Water, snacks, sun screen, closed toe shoes, eye and ear protection. Dress for outdoor activity (we hold class rain or shine). You may bring and shoot your personal handgun if you wish, or I can supply one for you free of charge. I can bring extra ammunition to share with you if you need it. Contact Brian for details at info@monarchdefense.org

As with all study group classes, tuition is flexible, but the class is not free. For a small class this size, with access to our private facility, free use of equipment and targets, suitable tuition is anywhere from $125 to $250 per person. Cash, check, Venmo, PayPal, Google Pay, etc. are all accepted. There is no additional facility fee. We have ammo for you if you need it, just pay us back for whatever you use.
