This class covers the knowledge necessary to own and use a firearm for self defense. It is a primer to the attitudes, assumptions, and skills you may need in time of violent crisis. It is an affordable, safe, and relaxed opportunity for the novice to learn, ask questions, and make mistakes in a controlled environment. If you’re new, start here. This class will be your foundation and prerequisite for future training.

If you’re not new, and you are trying to decide if you should take or skip this prerequisite class, then take the following test. If you can correctly accomplish all three tasks without hesitation, then you can skip this class.

  1. Articulate for me me concisely the legal, moral, and social paradigm of self defense, to include exactly under what circumstances you are allowed to draw your weapon, point it at a person, and shoot someone.
  2. Explain to me exactly what the statistical mortality rate is for handgun wounds in the United States, how rifles and shotguns produce substantially different wounds, and what organ systems specifically within the human body we need to destroy to cause your opponent to cease hostile activity within 3 seconds.
  3. Demonstrate for me without hesitation or error how to unload and show clear any double action revolver, single action pistol, double action pistol, striker fired pistol, semi automatic rifle, or pump action shotgun that anyone hands to you.

Black Dog Armory
40655 Grimmer Blvd, Fremont, CA 94538

Approximately 10am to 5pm

Meet in the parking lot in front of Black Dog Armory at 10am. We will head inside and make ourselves comfortable in the classroom. Before we begin, and on breaks, you are welcome to browse and ask about the inventory of firearms, ammunition and accessories. There are many restaurants nearby, but in the interest of time, I need you to pack a lunch so we can eat and work. Make sure you lock your car doors and take valuables with you, as the parking lot is not secure. We normally fit 20-24 students per class, but in response to social distancing restrictions, we will drop class size to 10-12 students, and increase tuition by $20 per person.

In general, ask detailed questions, learn, explore, and play with all the show and tell things we’re preparing for you. You don’t need any special equipment or clothing.

Required Equipment
Note taking material, pen and paper
Water, snacks and bag lunch
Dress comfortably for indoor activity
We will provide the necessary firearms for you to train with, but if you have your own gun, please bring it.

Price Breakdown
Tuition is $75, facility fee is $10. Small class surcharge is an additional $20, for a total of $105 per person. If you have already purchased a 3rd party promotional voucher, then please email your voucher to admin@monarchdefense.org, including the barcode and the numerical 5-8 digit voucher code, along with $30 via paypal to info@monarchdefense.org to register.

Can I bring my own gun to practice with? Yes, but only if you are willing to let other students try it.

If I have a 3rd party promotional voucher, how do I sign up? Email a copy of your voucher barcode to admin@monarchdefense.org. We redeem your voucher when you schedule, rather than when you attend class. This is for 3 reasons: it reduces administrative burden and wasted time on the day of class, it discourages customers from no-showing, and allows you to gain the full value of your voucher before it expires, even if your class is past the promotions expiration date.

What is the age limit for this class? We do not have a set age limit for this class, but typically puberty is a suitable starting age for youths to learn firearm safety. An adult, preferably parent or legal guardian, must accompany all minors.

Can I take pictures? Yes, just be sensitive to and respect any classmates who may not wish to be photographed.

What is the refund/reschedule policy? You can reschedule at any time up to 1 hour before class start as long as you email Brian at info@monarchdefense.org and submit your reschedule request. No-Call & No-show = no refund and no reschedule. We do not offer refunds unless under rare circumstances we messed something up, or otherwise need to cancel. Make sure you check your spam folder settings, as we will not be offering refunds or sympathy for folks who missed important notifications because of their spam filter settings. We send out all important communications via Email; Plan accordingly.

How can I contact the organizer with my questions? Brian Wang is the event organizer. He can be reached at 408-892-5460 or info@monarchdefense.org
