Study groups are low cost, flexible, casual, and high quality opportunities to train in an intimate small group environment with your instructor and fellow students of a variety of skill levels. Study Groups are a hybrid between private custom training, which can be prohibitively expensive, and open enrollment group classes, which can be busy and chaotic and at inconvenient times. If you have scheduling flexibility and you want to train in a semi-private and more intimate manner for a wide variety of topics, consider joining our new Study Group program.

To join, please submit your range fee using the online checkout on this page, and contact Brian at info@monarchdefense.org for details.

10am to 2pm

Coyote Valley Sporting Clays
1000 San Bruno Ave., Morgan Hill, CA 95037

Fill out an electronic waiver, then wait for me at the back patio. We’ll have a chat about the role of handguns in modern human conflict and self defense. We’ll look in detail at the science of ammunition, anatomy of the human body, and the legal framework in which we exist regarding responsible use of deadly force in self defense.

Then we will head down to the range to set up, and practice loading, manipulation, and movement drills to become familiar with your holster, and the weapon system’s controls. Then we will go hot for fundamental marksmanship practice, shooting slowly for groups, and finally progress to high intensity gunfighting training.

Students should be familiar with firearm safety, but there are no other prerequisites.

Required Equipment:
Water, snacks, sun screen, close toe shoes, eye and ear protection. Dress for outdoor activity (we hold class rain or shine). You may bring and shoot your personal handgun if you wish, or I can supply one for you free of charge. I can bring extra ammunition to share with you if you need it. Contact Brian for details at info@monarchdefense.org

As with all study group classes, this class is funded by donation. For tuition, suggested donation to the instructor is anywhere from $40 to $150 per person. Cash, check, Venmo, PayPal, Google Pay, etc are all accepted.

The facility fee is $20 per person, which we will collect right here on the website at time of registration.

Ammunition is separate from tuition. The range does not generally sell handgun ammunition. Plan to bring 100-200 rounds of practice ammunition.

How can I contact the organizer with my questions? Brian Wang is the event organizer. He can be reached at 408-892-5460 or info@monarchdefense.org
