Instructor Will is going to be joining us for the weekend of 1/28-1/30 for an exciting weekend of night vision, force on force gunfighting, and tactical medicine.

Will is extremely current working in the “real world”, and I am excited to give you guys a chance to train with him and to pick his brain for updates on most current training methodologies and combat tactics. I cannot stress how valuable an opportunity this is to learn from a super knowledgeable and passionate instructor.

Experienced shooters, dedicated students to the art of self defense and gunfighting, the modern martial art, welcome to Applied Tactics. This is your opportunity for efficient, cost effective continuing education and advanced training.

The Applied Tactics series offers rotating topics of pertinent, real world gunfighting and self defense firearm training designed for seasoned students, law enforcement and security professionals. It is taught by a team of instructors from around the country with decades of experience in small arms combat, martial arts, use of force doctrine, and adult learning theory.

Applied Tactics is NOT the venue for learning the basics. We assume that students who register show up rested, hydrated, and ready to train at a high level of detail and focus. This is also not for the shooter who just wants to shoot fast and get a lot of rounds down range; For that there is Dynamic Drills Day. This program is heavily focused on problem solving, partner communication, and team work, and requires 100% mental engagement. Marksmanship and gun handling fundamental skills are expected of you, and are not the primary focus of this training. In this program our aim is to train the mind as the weapon, with the body and all other tools as simply extensions of the mind.

Applied Tactics classes are physically demanding. Gunfighting is a subset of the modern martial art, and as such we place a high emphasis on physical readiness and the willingness to exert. By signing up, you agree to accept the risk of injury or death, through accidents such as stumbling and falling, or through negligence, both your own or others. Safety in training is our utmost concern, but we all must accept some degree of heightened risk when we begin to inject the “square range” with the stressful and chaotic elements of reality in order to achieve the highest quality training possible.

The Applied Tactics series rotates curriculum with each class, and as such every class will dictate specific equipment. Read the packing list and course description very carefully before arriving. This program makes frequent use of UTM and Simunition brand Non Lethal Training Ammunition, in which case the cost of ammunition will be subsidized in the cost of tuition. We train in all weather conditions, so dress and prepare accordingly.

Thorough understanding of firearm safety, including use of force doctrine, loading and unloading, muzzle discipline while moving, and safety manipulation.

This class tests everything there is to know about gunfighting, in a very real and painful way.

No new material is presented in this course. Either you have mastered it, or you have not, and this class will show you exactly where you are currently in your level of proficiency or ineptitude.

As we run and debrief each sequence of increasingly complex exercises, you will get a chance to preview material that you have yet to learn, hopefully inspiring you to want to learn more, or you will validate skill and knowledge that you already have in your repertoire, hopefully inspiring you to want to learn more.

This class, as with most all our programs, is operated on donation. I ask that you provide $250 per person for tuition, but I will accept any amount between $175 and $350. This type of training requires a medium class size, two instructors, lots of hands on attention from the instructors, and very expensive and specialized equipment. Expect the class size to be 8-12 students. For the 2021-2022 school year, I have updated the website to accept credit card payments directly to decrease confusion, no-shows, and administrative workload.

Specifically regarding the cost of Ultimate Training Munitions and Simunitions brand non-lethal training ammunition, you do not need to bring or buy your own, and you typically won’t be able to. We will provide the ammunition to you, and subsidize the cost of ammo to keep the class affordable. This ammunition is typically 300% the price of standard ammunition, but we will trade you 1 for 1 live ammunition for non lethal ammunition. If you would prefer to simply pay for the ammo that you consume rather than trade for live ammo, you may do so as well.
