SUMMARY:ACOG Class 26MAY24
DESCRIPTION:The Trijicon Advanced Combat Optical gunsight has been the king of combat optics for decades\, because of it’s toughness\, reliability\, quality\, and compact size. While previously this optic was too expensive for the average consumer\, at about $1000 each\, recently\, many of the scopes that have served the military and department of defense are finding their way onto the surplus market for much less than what a new one cost. If you have recently acquired one of these optics with our school’s group buy\, or are considering purchasing one\, this is a great class to learn all about how to use it. \nIf you have been training with iron sights and red dot optics\, and are looking to further your rifle training to longer ranges and more complex sighting systems\, then this also a great class\, as we can provide you a scope to borrow free of charge. All you have to do is sign up early and use the RSVP form to reserve a scope under your name.  \nThese days\, all the fashion is about low power variable optics\, yet time and time again we see that LPVO’s fail due to their high price\, low durability\, and high complexity. Whereas LPVO’s are sexy and offer a lot of features in theory\, their disadvantages really show in the field environment\, and greatly point users towards the advantage of the ACOG…simplicity…speed…durability!  \nIn this specialty seminar let’s understand the unique niche that ACOG scopes holds in the modern age of sporting and combat weapons\, allowing users to shoot faster\, and farther\, greatly extending a carbine’s flexibility and precision while still maintaining light weight\, a low profile\, and good close range weapons handling.   \nLearn how to maximize the strengths of your new ACOG scope\, while mitigating and overcoming it’s shortcomings. Gather specific tips on zeroing\, range estimation\, reticle selection\, and engaging targets both near and far.  \n\n\n\nPrerequisite: \n\n\n\nYou must have prior safe weapons handling experience to attend this seminar.  \n\n\n\nTopics:  \n\n\n\nDesign philosophy of the Trijicon Advanced Combat Optical GunsightWhat makes a successful combat optic?Basic overview of function and capabilitiesProper mounting and levelingEye reliefDiopter adjustmentParallaxFirst Focal Plane vs. Second Focal PlaneCleaning and MaintenanceUsing the reticle to range far targetsLPVO vs. ACOGRed Dot vs ACOGPrismatic optic advantages for those with astigmatismBindon Aiming ConceptBackup sights and piggyback red dotsQuick detach mounting optionsMounting to Kalashnikov and rifles other than ar15/ar10How much magnification do I need? Tall mounts vs. regular height mountsProper zeroing procedureMinutes of angle and MilliradiansHoldovers and holdundersFast wind estimationLow light considerationsRealistic and theoretical effective rangesHigh stress shooting and moving drills from 0-600 meters \n\n\n\nSchedule:  \n8:45 am Setup\, issue out ammo and weapons 9:00 am Safety brief and theory10:00 am Zeroing and fundamentals live fire practice12:00 noon Known distance target practice from 100-600 meters4:00 pm High intensity\, high round count moving and shooting drills at various ranges7:00 pm Debrief\, clean up\, go home  \n\n\n\n\n\nLocation: \nOur facility is in the mountains 1 hour east of San Jose\, 1 hour south from Livermore.
