SUMMARY:Red Dot Pistol Class 3FEB24
DESCRIPTION:A lot has changed in weapon technology since John Moses Browning gave us the modern delayed blowback semi-automatic pistol more than a century ago. Lightweight polymers\, tritium sights\, weapon lights\, hollow point bullets… yet of all the implements available for your pistol\, none other have simultaneously allured\, and confounded folks like the illusive Red Dot Sight. They look pretty straightforward\, until you’re struggling to line up the dot\, struggling to get it zeroed\, struggling to keep the screws tight\, and struggling to get any faster than if you just used irons. \nPistols are complex tools that require significant expertise. When you add an optic on top\, your weapon becomes even more complex\, and a lot more prone to user induced failures. I have taught professionally now for 10+ years and seen time and time again the failures of both hardware and software on red dot pistol and their users\, so it is time we address these issues proactively to give you a greater chance at success. \nWhether you use a handgun in competition\, for self defense\, for combat\, SHTF\, or simple target practice\, let’s understand the pros and cons of red dot optics\, their mounting methods\, their proper zeroing procedure\, and special considerations for training and dry fire drills that will help you build muscle memory\, shoot faster\, and shoot farther even in the dark and under stress. \nTopics:  \nThe unique role for red dot optics on modern pistols.\nAdvantages and limitations of open emitter and closed emitter optics\nCommon points of failure and how to rectify them\nSpeed and accuracy\nMoving and shooting from one handed\, compromised and awkward positions\nOne handed emergency pistol manipulations\nSpecial considerations for low light\nBallistic trajectory for pistol bullets\nZeroing your red dot optic\nPushing the envelope of effective range: 100\, 200\, 300 meters with a pistol?\nLow light/white light stress shoot \nPrerequisite: \nSafe firearms handling experience\nHigh school level math\nThis is not a class well suited for beginners \nLocation:\nOur facility is 1 hour east of San Jose. Detailed directions will be emailed to those who sign up. \nRequired Equipment: \nNotebook and pencil\nSturdy belt attached to your pants\nPistol or revolver equipped with a holographic or red dot optic\n250 rounds\, or bring cash to use school ammo\n5 magazines/revolver speedloaders\nSnacks and lunch\n1 gallon of water per day\nSturdy shoes\nSturdy outdoor clothing (We train rain or shine)\nEye protection\nEar protection\nRefillable water bottle\nGun cleaning kit and lubricant\nFlashlight\nUser manual for your optic\nTools for adjusting or mounting your optics \nRecommended equipment:  \nHat\nSunscreen\nSnacks\nExtra jackets and warm clothing\nGloves \nContact: \nBrian Wang is the event organizer. He can be reached at 408-892-5460 or info@monarchdefense.org \nCancellation Policy:  \nThere is no penalty to reschedule your class as long as you provide written notice at least 1 hour before the start of class by email to info@monarchdefense.org. Your credit is good for 1 year. We do not provide refunds.

SUMMARY:Care Under Fire 18FEB24
DESCRIPTION:Care Under Fire is the 2nd installment from Monarch Defense’s small unit tactics series offered spring 2024. This curriculum was previously offered only to military students and in Special Purpose Rifle School\, and after gathering customer feedback for several years\, this year we aim to break up the curriculum into recurring once-a-month classes that will allow you more flexibility in scheduling. \nThis class will introduce students to the tactical priorities and teamwork of combat evacuations and first aid in the field. Unlike most first aid classes\, which begin at the assumption of “scene safety”\, we begin our training when friends are hurt and the scene is not safe. How then\, do we evacuate them quickly and efficiently\, without getting more people hurt? How do we treat their wounds in the field? \nThis highly condensed and efficient introductory class is exactly what our team of seasoned instructors compiled for and taught to the all-volunteer 47th Separate Battalion during the summer of 2022\, which later became the 47th Separate Mechanized Brigade of the Ukraine Armed Forces who spearheaded the counteroffensive against Russian occupation during the summer of 2023. These were regular people just like you who made the decision to learn how to fight. \nDuring the summer of 2022 in Donetsk\, I personally ran three combat medical evacuation missions using these exact techniques\, before falling ill and being evacuated to the hospital. During the counter offensive of summer 2023\, several of my friends and colleagues at the 47th Brigade were wounded\, and shared their experiences with me. We can review these first hand experiences\, and many others\, to learn what was successful\, what was not\, and how we can do better in the future. \nLike all small unit tactics series classes\, the morning will be spent in reviewing theory. The tools for first aid in the field\, IFAK (Individual first aid kits) and how to use them\, tourniquets\, when and how to use them\, how to transition from a tourniquet to a pressure bandage for extended field care which is a critical skill to prevent the unnecessary amputation of limbs\, the use of liters\, and how to move\, drag\, and carry casualties. Also\, we will discuss and practice how to survey for wounds in the field\, and how to keep casualties warm\, which is a huge priority. \nFollowing the theory lesson we will go out into the field to train and practice these skills in simulated stress with blank fire weapons\, a real life human opposing force\, and be able to debrief and do better. \nLocation:\nMeet and park at 37505 San Antonio Valley Road\, Mt Hamilton\, CA 95140. Cell reception is unreliable out here\, do not trust Apple maps/Google maps/Wayz. Detailed driving directions will be emailed to those who register. \nPacking List: \nNotebook and writing utensil\, highly recommend Rite in the Rain 4″x6″ and a short wood pencil\n1 gallon of water\nLunch and snacks\nBoots\nWool socks\nExtra socks wrapped in plastic bag\nCombat uniform such as US Army surplus Flame Resistant Army Combat Uniform (FRACU) which can be purchased on eBay for about $45 top and bottom\nBoonie hat\nGloves\n5.56x45mm or 7.62x39mm rifle equipped with Boland FX full load blank fire adapter (the school can supply all weapons\, magazines\, ammunition\, and blank adapters)\nMuzzle on blank adapted weapons must be painted bright yellow\n5+ 30 round magazines. Magpul Pmags recommended for ar15s using school blanks.\n$80 for 300 rounds of blanks and training grenades\nTourniquet and IFAK (individual first aid kit) highly recommended\nNight Vision optional\nHelmet optional\nRifle rated body armor optional\n22 caliber barrel cleaning rod\nRifle cleaning kit\, with oil\, rag\, toothbrush\, and star chamber brush\nHandguns and holsters are optional \nCost: \n$124 per class when you buy the whole 4 class series\, or $275 per class if you buy them singly. \n4 class package for $496 includes: \nPrinciples of Patrol 1/21/24\nCare Under Fire 2/18/24\nPrinciples of Ambush 3/17/24\nPrinciples of Raid 4/21/24 \n\nHow can I contact the organizer with my questions? \n\nBrian Wang is the event organizer. He can be reached at 408-892-5460 or info@monarchdefense.org \n\nWhat is the refund policy? We do not issue refunds. Instead\, we offer an open reschedule policy. SUMMARY:Defensive Handgun Fundamentals 24FEB24
DESCRIPTION:New for 2024 we will be making some changes in our handgun program. Introduction to Defensive Handgun (DH1) and Defensive Handgun Skill Builder (DH2) are now merged into Defensive Handgun Fundamentals for an accelerated pace full day class. \nDefensive Handgun Fundamentals will shift towards serving intermediate level students who have already completed some basic firearms training. In order to attend the accelerated DHF\, you must understand proper loading and unloading procedures\, self defense psychology\, and use of force. Our 6 hour Firearm Safety Class meets these prerequisites. \nWe will begin with the science of ammunition and hollow point bullets\, tactical human anatomy such as where to shoot\, how many times to shoot\, and why. \nWe will spend a great deal of time practicing how to draw from the holster\, safely\, quickly\, and efficiently with one hand and two hands\, with and without cover garment. Drawing and reholstering are the most dangerous aspects of handgun ownership\, and if not properly trained\, this is where self inflicted gunshot injuries occur. \nThe bulk of the day will be spent on learning fundamentals of breathing\, aiming\, stance\, grip\, and trigger press. We will provide you with dry fire and live fire exercises to fix or prevent common shooting errors such as flinch\, recoil anticipation\, or shooting to the left. \nThe late afternoon will be spent practicing rapid fire and trigger recoil control. We will shoot fast\, shoot accurately\, and shoot a lot at distances ranging from 2 meters to 25 meters\, including shooting while moving\, and shooting in the dark. \nBy the end of the day you will have a strong understanding of all 6 manipulations for loading\, unloading\, and clearing malfunctions on the modern semi automatic pistol. If time permits\, we will practice 4 flashlight holds and other low light shooting techniques. \nPrerequisite:  \nFirearm Safety Class\, or equivalent training. \nIf you would like to skip the prerequisite\, please call Brian at 408-892-5460. \nYou do not need to own your own firearm. We can provide all holsters\, firearms\, ammunition\, and equipment. Please contact Brian at 408-892-5460 to discuss. \nLocation:\nOur facility is 1 hour east of San Jose. Detailed directions will be emailed to those who sign up. \nTime:  \nThis is a full day class. A full day at Monarch Defense is defined as 10-12 hours. We will go until we are finished\, and you will stay to clean up. Everyone learns at a different pace. Heat\, rain\, mud\, equipment problems\, bad habits\, age\, etc. can all contribute to a slower pace for your learning. \nPlan to start at 9am and to end at 7pm if the class learns fast and everything goes smoothly. Leave room in your schedule to run late\, including to debrief and clean up after dark. Classes happen rain or shine. \nRequired Equipment: \nNotebook and pencil\nSturdy belt attached to your pants\nPistol or revolver\nHolster which is molded for your gun and attached to your clothing (Weapons equipment\, can all be provided free of charge)\n300 rounds\n3+ magazines or speed loaders\nSnacks and lunch\n1 gallon of water per day\nSturdy shoes\nSturdy outdoor clothing (We train rain or shine)\nEye protection\nEar protection\nRefillable water bottle\nGun cleaning kit and lubricant\nFlashlight \nThe school can provide you with all firearms\, holsters\, ammunition\, magazines\, flashlights\, etc. If you want to use the school’s equipment\, contact Brian ahead of time at info@monarchdefense.org. If you haven’t bought your gun yet\, I highly recommend you use the school’s equipment while you learn\, before you commit to your purchase. \nRecommended equipment:  \nBrimmed hat\, such as a “boonie”\nSunscreen\nSalty snacks\nExtra jackets and warm clothing\nFolding chair\nSturdy gloves \nContact: \nBrian Wang is the event organizer. All classes proceed rain or shine.
