DESCRIPTION:Continue your firearms training in a beginner friendly and low pressure environment. Class sizes are small so you have great hands-on time with all the different guns and close attention from your instructors. Practice loading\, unloading\, aiming and shooting various firearms. See which type of weapon suits your body and your self defense needs. Gain confidence in safe gun handling before making your first firearm purchase or continuing onto more advanced training. You will handle and shoot a wide variety of modern firearms\, including pistols\, revolvers\, rifles\, and shotguns. All equipment and ammunition is provided. \nLocation: \nOur facility is in the mountains 1 hour east from San Jose\, or 1 hour south from Livermore. If you are an unskilled or inexperienced driver\, give yourself 2 hours to make the drive from most cities of the bay area. We will email detailed driving instructions to you when you sign up. \nSchedule:  \nWe begin together and end together. If you sign up\, plan to stay until we debrief and clean up. \nThis is part 2 of a 2-part class due to early sunset during winter months. We start at 9am with review and refresher of topics we discussed in Firearm Safety Class\, then loading\, unloading\, weapons handling for the variety of firearms\, then shooting practice and clean up. We plan to finish at 3pm\, which allows for a more relaxed schedule\, and more shooting time. DESCRIPTION:Welcome to 2025 Small Unit Tactics series! \nBuilding on the success of last year’s program\, we have expanded Small Unit Tactics to include a crash course of all the things you need to know on the individual level in order to succeed while conducting operations at the team level. \nBasic Tactical Fieldcraft will teach you how to think and move in a tactical manner\, how to set up your individual equipment\, and introduce tactical concepts such as cover\, concealment\, camouflage\, stealth\, light discipline\, noise discipline\, dispersion\, sectors of responsibility\, setting security\, unit organization\, military terminology\, grenades\, night vision\, the squad’s organic weapons\, and more. \nIt also includes an orientation on our blank fire systems\, a tour of the facility\, and a detailed conversation about weapons and equipment setup so you will know how to prepare logistically for success in the coming months of exciting training.  \nThose who study history find that there are cycles and patterns which repeat themselves\, so if you understand history\, you are able to predict and prepare for the future. In 1775\, the young United States was losing a war against the most powerful military in the world and turned to an expert military instructor from Prussia named Friedrich Wilhelm Von Steuben because the rag tag American militiamen had the heart to fight\, but were not professionally trained soldiers\, and they needed to learn teamwork and tactics. That training is what eventually lead to the defeat of Great Britain in 1783. \nIn 1937 China found itself invaded by a superior imperial Japanese army. The Chinese Communist Party Liberation Army managed to survive the war by the skin of it’s teeth\, it then went on to win a civil war from 1945-1949\, fought the United States in direct combat in Korea in the 1950-1953\, so by the time Ho Chi Minh\, leader of North Vietnam turned to China for military aid during the Vietnam War from 1955-1975\, China was well experienced to teach the north Vietnamese commoner how to fight and win against a technologically superior professional adversary. Leading to the defeat of the United States in 1975. \nThe Soviet Union\, the largest country in the world\, invaded and occupied Afghanistan from 1979 to 1989\, and for 10 years despite having overwhelming advantage in technology and military might\, were defeated by essentially peasants with some old rifles and the occasional shoulder fired anti aircraft missile. What was the secret to their success? American funded guerilla training and tactics. So successful was this proxy war for the Americans\, that it lead to the literal collapse of the Soviet Union\, ending the Cold War. Fast forward to 2021 and the same Afghans who defeated the USSR defeated the United states after 20 years of military occupation by the most powerful military on the planet. \nDo you see the pattern? In each of these cases the underdog\, who starts as a ragtag collection of laymen\, is able to defeat a superior adversary through discipline\, tactics\, and an understanding of combat theory. If history repeats itself\, then when will it be your turn to fight for your freedom\, your sovereignty\, your family\, or your life? When that time comes\, would you rather scramble to survive\, or would you rather learn how to fight now when the sun is shining? \nThe Small Unit Tactics Series consists of five 10 hour immersive classes that will give you a broad introduction to modern fighting tactics. DESCRIPTION:Monarch Defense’s Firearm Safety Class is the most important class we offer\, and the most important class you will ever take during your self defense training. That’s why it is now free. \nLet’s face it. If self defense was easy\, you could just watch a few videos\, and “figure it out” by yourself. If firearms were easy\, schools such as ours would have no reason to exist. But that’s just not reality. Good people go to jail every day\, because they don’t know what they are doing. Good people become victims of crime every day\, because they don’t know what they are doing. Good people get hurt every day because they don’t know what they are doing. The study of firearms and self defense is a complex amalgamation of history\, science\, psychology\, and physical skill. Weapons are not toys\, and if used improperly can result in serious safety or legal hazards to you and your loved ones. \nThe problem that I often face as a teacher is students who want the “advanced” stuff and want to skip the basics. Folks expect to just buy a gun\, and magically know how and when to shoot bad guys. Some people watch some videos and think they are ready to go straight into fast\, cool training\, but this isn’t how it works. “Advanced” is just another word for “mastery of the basics”. There is no such thing as advanced training; There are only those who have taken the time to develop their foundation\, and those who haven’t. When beginners show up to advanced training without a solid foundation of attitude\, skill\, and knowledge\, all they will find is frustration. Out on the street there are winners\, and there are losers; There are those who mastered the basics\, and those who found out the hard way that they didn’t. This program exists to prepare you for a successful future in protecting yourself\, so that you can make wise decisions regarding buying\, learning\, carrying\, and using firearms. \nOver the last 11 years teaching professionally\, I have strived to design a thorough hands on learning experience which answers all of the questions that you need to know to get started. Information that you can’t just find online\, such as the role of weapons in society\, why peaceful people would have a need for “weapons of war”\, specifically when you can and cannot shoot someone\, the actual crimes that you can prevent with a gun\, real self defense case studies\, hands on comparison between the different types of guns\, so you can understand their real capabilities and limitations (not just Hollywood)\, proper gun handling procedures\, and live fire demonstrations. \nYou will handle and shoot a wide variety of modern firearms\, including pistols\, revolvers\, rifles\, and shotguns. \nLocation: \nOur facility is in the mountains 1 hour east from San Jose\, or 1 hour south from Livermore. DESCRIPTION:America is the land of frontiersman. \nOur parents\, grandparents and great grandparents undertook tremendous risk moving to an unfamiliar land. A land rife with wild beasts\, dangerous men\, harsh weather\, and foreign customs; They risked everything to leave the old country to find a better future. To survive in this new world meant that they had to use every skill they had brought from the old world\, combined with learning and adapting as quickly as possible to the new landscape. Some survived and raised offspring; many didn’t. The children of these pioneers are called “Americans”\, named after Amerigo Vespucci\, an Italian explorer known for “discovering” the new world. We are genetically different from those who never left the comfort of the old world; You are tough\, adaptable\, resilient\, and willing to take risks. In this 2 day class we explore what it means to be a natural born survivor.  \nWhile our forefathers endured harsh lives and hard labor\, today we enjoy the infrastructure that they built. We live comfortable\, convenient\, safe lives\, insulated from the daily struggle to survive\, at least in the traditional sense of the word. Yet\, we struggle in other ways: We as a society struggle to find connection\, purpose\, and happiness. We worry about money\, and self-image. We hate going to work yet we are slaves to our employers and cannot find the courage to quit. We go to school without seeing a purpose for a degree. We live in the land of freedom\, yet are trod upon by overbearing bureaucrats. \nI often find myself helping students look for historical perspectives to answer modern problems. We humans have been here on earth for a long time\, and we have become the dominant species on this earth because we found simple solutions to universal problems. If you go back 50\, 100\, 500 years\, the same troubles we deal with today existed then. How did our grandfathers solve them? If only we could go back to ask them for advice. \nDuring this weekend adventure\, join me on a journey that takes you away from your cell phones\, away from your cars\, and let us find perspective on modern problems by learning and practicing old life skills. The skills that humanity needs no matter how rich or complex our society seems\, or what chaos happens around us. Battle drills are pre-planned reactions with coordinated teamwork that you can initiate rapidly and instinctively without lengthy discussions or planning during the heat of battle.  \nAnytime we are practicing teamwork in conjunction with live ammunition\, student safety becomes the paramount priority. SUMMARY:Principles of Patrol 15FEB2025
DESCRIPTION:Welcome to 2025 Small Unit Tactics series! \nBuilding on the success of last year’s program\, Principles of Patrol returns as the heart and soul of Small Unit Tactics series! This class introduces students to modern tactical theory\, movement in buddy pairs\, fire teams\, and squads\, hand signals\, patrol formations\, battle drills\, fire and maneuver\, tactical leadership\, and the unique American fighting doctrine which was developed centuries ago as a hybrid of Native American and European fighting methods\, and despite being codified by Robert Rogers in 1757\, is still used and taught to this day. \nCase in point\, this highly condensed and efficient introductory class is exactly what our team of seasoned instructors compiled for the all-volunteer 47th Separate Battalion during the summer of 2022\, which later became the 47th Separate Mechanized Brigade of the Ukraine Armed Forces who spearheaded the counteroffensive against Russian occupation during the summer of 2023. These were regular people just like you who made the decision to learn how to fight.  \nThose who study history find that there are cycles and patterns which repeat themselves\, so if you understand history\, you are able to predict and prepare for the future. In 1775\, the young United States was losing a war against the most powerful military in the world and turned to an expert military instructor from Prussia named Friedrich Wilhelm Von Steuben because the rag tag American militiamen had the heart to fight\, but were not professionally trained soldiers\, and they needed to learn teamwork and tactics. That training is what eventually lead to the defeat of Great Britain in 1783. \nIn 1937 China found itself invaded by a superior imperial Japanese army. The Chinese Communist Party Liberation Army managed to survive the war by the skin of it’s teeth\, it then went on to win a civil war from 1945-1949\, fought the United States in direct combat in Korea in the 1950-1953\, so by the time Ho Chi Minh\, leader of North Vietnam turned to China for military aid during the Vietnam War from 1955-1975\, China was well experienced to teach the north Vietnamese commoner how to fight and win against a technologically superior professional adversary. Leading to the defeat of the United States in 1975. \nThe Soviet Union\, the largest country in the world\, invaded and occupied Afghanistan from 1979 to 1989\, and for 10 years despite having overwhelming advantage in technology and military might\, were defeated by essentially peasants with some old rifles and the occasional shoulder fired anti aircraft missile. What was the secret to their success? American funded guerilla training and tactics. So successful was this proxy war for the Americans\, that it lead to the literal collapse of the Soviet Union\, ending the Cold War. Fast forward to 2021 and the same Afghans who defeated the USSR defeated the United states after 20 years of military occupation by the most powerful military on the planet. \nDo you see the pattern? In each of these cases the underdog\, who starts as a ragtag collection of laymen\, is able to defeat a superior adversary through discipline\, tactics\, and an understanding of combat theory. If history repeats itself\, then when will it be your turn to fight for your freedom\, your sovereignty\, your family\, or your life? The study of firearms and self defense is a complex amalgamation of history\, science\, psychology\, and physical skill. Weapons are not toys\, and if used improperly can result in serious safety or legal hazards to you and your loved ones. \nThe problem that I often face as a teacher is students who want the “advanced” stuff and want to skip the basics. Folks expect to just buy a gun\, and magically know how and when to shoot bad guys. Some people watch some videos and think they are ready to go straight into fast\, cool training\, but this isn’t how it works. “Advanced” is just another word for “mastery of the basics”. There is no such thing as advanced training; There are only those who have taken the time to develop their foundation\, and those who haven’t. When beginners show up to advanced training without a solid foundation of attitude\, skill\, and knowledge\, all they will find is frustration. Out on the street there are winners\, and there are losers; There are those who mastered the basics\, and those who found out the hard way that they didn’t. This program exists to prepare you for a successful future in protecting yourself\, so that you can make wise decisions regarding buying\, learning\, carrying\, and using firearms. \nOver the last 11 years teaching professionally\, I have strived to design a thorough hands on learning experience which answers all of the questions that you need to know to get started. Information that you can’t just find online\, such as the role of weapons in society\, why peaceful people would have a need for “weapons of war”\, specifically when you can and cannot shoot someone\, the actual crimes that you can prevent with a gun\, real self defense case studies\, hands on comparison between the different types of guns\, so you can understand their real capabilities and limitations (not just Hollywood)\, proper gun handling procedures\, and live fire demonstrations. \nYou will handle and shoot a wide variety of modern firearms\, including pistols\, revolvers\, rifles\, and shotguns. \nLocation: \nOur facility is in the mountains 1 hour east from San Jose\, or 1 hour south from Livermore. If you are an unskilled or inexperienced driver\, give yourself 2 hours to make the drive from most cities of the bay area. DESCRIPTION:Ammunition Science is a semi-private class that will teach you how to master making your own pistol and rifle ammunition quickly\, safely\, cheaply\, and precisely. This training is provided in three parts: Part 1 will be theory and introduction taught hands on in person at our shop. Part 2 will be testing\, chronographing and grouping done at the shooting range. Part 3 will be high volume production back in the shop.  \nThis specific date is for Part 1\, the longest part. DESCRIPTION:Welcome to 2025 Small Unit Tactics series! \nBuilding on the success of last year’s program\, we have expanded Small Unit Tactics to include a crash course of all the things you need to know on the individual level in order to succeed while conducting operations at the team level. \nBasic Tactical Fieldcraft will teach you how to think and move in a tactical manner\, how to set up your individual equipment\, and introduce tactical concepts such as cover\, concealment\, camouflage\, stealth\, light discipline\, noise discipline\, dispersion\, sectors of responsibility\, setting security\, unit organization\, military terminology\, grenades\, night vision\, the squad’s organic weapons\, and more. \nIt also includes an orientation on our blank fire systems\, a tour of the facility\, and a detailed conversation about weapons and equipment setup so you will know how to prepare logistically for success in the coming months of exciting training.  \nThose who study history find that there are cycles and patterns which repeat themselves\, so if you understand history\, you are able to predict and prepare for the future. In 1775\, the young United States was losing a war against the most powerful military in the world and turned to an expert military instructor from Prussia named Friedrich Wilhelm Von Steuben because the rag tag American militiamen had the heart to fight\, but were not professionally trained soldiers\, and they needed to learn teamwork and tactics. That training is what eventually lead to the defeat of Great Britain in 1783. \nIn 1937 China found itself invaded by a superior imperial Japanese army. The Chinese Communist Party Liberation Army managed to survive the war by the skin of it’s teeth\, it then went on to win a civil war from 1945-1949\, fought the United States in direct combat in Korea in the 1950-1953\, so by the time Ho Chi Minh\, leader of North Vietnam turned to China for military aid during the Vietnam War from 1955-1975\, China was well experienced to teach the north Vietnamese commoner how to fight and win against a technologically superior professional adversary. Leading to the defeat of the United States in 1975. \nThe Soviet Union\, the largest country in the world\, invaded and occupied Afghanistan from 1979 to 1989\, and for 10 years despite having overwhelming advantage in technology and military might\, were defeated by essentially peasants with some old rifles and the occasional shoulder fired anti aircraft missile. What was the secret to their success? American funded guerilla training and tactics. So successful was this proxy war for the Americans\, that it lead to the literal collapse of the Soviet Union\, ending the Cold War. Fast forward to 2021 and the same Afghans who defeated the USSR defeated the United states after 20 years of military occupation by the most powerful military on the planet. \nDo you see the pattern? In each of these cases the underdog\, who starts as a ragtag collection of laymen\, is able to defeat a superior adversary through discipline\, tactics\, and an understanding of combat theory. If history repeats itself\, then when will it be your turn to fight for your freedom\, your sovereignty\, your family\, or your life? DESCRIPTION:Welcome to 2025 Small Unit Tactics series! \nCare Under Fire is the 3rd installment of Monarch Defense’s small unit tactics series offered spring 2025. This curriculum was previously offered only to military students and in Special Purpose Rifle School\, and after gathering customer feedback for several years\, this year we aim to break up the curriculum into recurring once-a-month classes that will allow you more flexibility in scheduling. \nThis class will introduce students to the tactical priorities and teamwork of combat evacuations and first aid in the field. Unlike most first aid classes\, which begin at the assumption of “scene safety”\, we begin our training when friends are hurt and the scene is not safe. How then\, do we evacuate them quickly and efficiently\, without getting more people hurt? How do we treat their wounds in the field? \nThis highly condensed and efficient introductory class is exactly what our team of seasoned instructors compiled for and taught to the all-volunteer 47th Separate Battalion during the summer of 2022\, which later became the 47th Separate Mechanized Brigade of the Ukraine Armed Forces who spearheaded the counteroffensive against Russian occupation during the summer of 2023. These were regular people just like you who made the decision to learn how to fight. \nDuring the summer of 2022 in Donetsk\, I conducted three combat medical evacuation missions using these exact techniques\, before falling ill and myself being evacuated to the hospital. During the counter offensive of summer 2023\, several of my friends and colleagues at the 47th Brigade were wounded\, and shared their experiences with me. We can review these first hand experiences\, and many others\, to learn what was successful\, what was not\, and how we can do better in the future. \nLike all small unit tactics series classes\, the morning will be spent in reviewing theory. The tools for first aid in the field\, IFAK (Individual first aid kits) and how to use them\, tourniquets\, when and how to use them\, how to transition from a tourniquet to a pressure bandage for extended field care which is a critical skill to prevent the unnecessary amputation of limbs\, the use of liters\, and how to move\, drag\, and carry casualties. Also\, we will discuss and practice how to survey for wounds in the field\, and how to keep casualties warm\, which is a huge priority. \nFollowing the theory lesson we will go out into the field to train and practice these skills in simulated stress with blank fire weapons\, a real life human opposing force\, and be able to debrief and do better. \nThe Small Unit Tactics Series consists of five 10 hour immersive classes that will give you a broad introduction to modern fighting tactics. This includes basic tactical theory\, hand signals\, casualty evacuation\, leadership\, mission planning\, attack\, defense\, ambush\, raid\, night operations\, and more!  \nYou can sign up for classes individually or purchase the entire package of 5 classes for an awesome deal. DESCRIPTION:Monarch Defense’s Firearm Safety Class is the most important class we offer\, and the most important class you will ever take during your self defense training. That’s why it is now free. \nLet’s face it. If self defense was easy\, you could just watch a few videos\, and “figure it out” by yourself. If firearms were easy\, schools such as ours would have no reason to exist. But that’s just not reality. Good people go to jail every day\, because they don’t know what they are doing. Good people become victims of crime every day\, because they don’t know what they are doing. Good people get hurt every day because they don’t know what they are doing. The study of firearms and self defense is a complex amalgamation of history\, science\, psychology\, and physical skill. Weapons are not toys\, and if used improperly can result in serious safety or legal hazards to you and your loved ones. \nThe problem that I often face as a teacher is students who want the “advanced” stuff and want to skip the basics. Folks expect to just buy a gun\, and magically know how and when to shoot bad guys. Some people watch some videos and think they are ready to go straight into fast\, cool training\, but this isn’t how it works. “Advanced” is just another word for “mastery of the basics”. There is no such thing as advanced training; There are only those who have taken the time to develop their foundation\, and those who haven’t. When beginners show up to advanced training without a solid foundation of attitude\, skill\, and knowledge\, all they will find is frustration. Out on the street there are winners\, and there are losers; There are those who mastered the basics\, and those who found out the hard way that they didn’t. This program exists to prepare you for a successful future in protecting yourself\, so that you can make wise decisions regarding buying\, learning\, carrying\, and using firearms. \nOver the last 11 years teaching professionally\, I have strived to design a thorough hands on learning experience which answers all of the questions that you need to know to get started. Information that you can’t just find online\, such as the role of weapons in society\, why peaceful people would have a need for “weapons of war”\, specifically when you can and cannot shoot someone\, the actual crimes that you can prevent with a gun\, real self defense case studies\, hands on comparison between the different types of guns\, so you can understand their real capabilities and limitations (not just Hollywood)\, proper gun handling procedures\, and live fire demonstrations. \nYou will handle and shoot a wide variety of modern firearms\, including pistols\, revolvers\, rifles\, and shotguns. \nLocation: \nOur facility is in the mountains 1 hour east from San Jose\, or 1 hour south from Livermore. If you are an unskilled or inexperienced driver\, give yourself 2 hours to make the drive from most cities of the bay area. We will email detailed driving instructions to you when you sign up. \nSchedule:  \nWe begin together and end together. If you sign up\, plan to stay until we debrief and clean up. \nThis is a two part class: Firearm Safety Class starts at 9am and ends at roughly 5pm. DESCRIPTION:This class is for students who have completed Home Defense and Firearm Safety\, and wish to gain hands on experience shooting a wide variety of weapons\, including pistols\, revolvers\, rifles\, and shotguns. If you are an unskilled or inexperienced driver\, give yourself 2 hours to make the drive from most cities of the bay area. We will email detailed driving instructions to you when you sign up. \nSchedule:  \nWe begin together and end together. If you sign up\, plan to stay until we debrief and clean up. \nThis is a two part class: There will be other students who start their theory lesson at 9am. As you have already completed the theory part of class\, you will join the us at 2pm as we transition to gun handling and learning how to shoot. We do not stop for lunch\, although you may bring food and eat during class. SUMMARY:Ammunition Science 23MAR2025
DESCRIPTION:Ammunition Science is a semi-private class that will teach you how to master making your own pistol and rifle ammunition quickly\, safely\, cheaply\, and precisely. This training is provided in three parts: Part 1 will be theory and introduction taught hands on in person at our shop. Part 2 will be testing\, chronographing and grouping done at the shooting range. Part 3 will be high volume production back in the shop.  \nThis specific date is for Part 1\, the longest part. Because the training is so hand-on\, we set a maximum class size of only 4 students. Due to the small class size and high demand\, if all tickets are sold out\, please email admin@monarchdefense.org to be added to the wait list\, and you will be notified of the next available date\, or if a spot opens up due to cancellation. You will schedule parts 2 and 3 later 1-on-1 with me\, and it is flexible to your schedule. If you buy this class\, you are paying for all 3 parts\, plus all tools\, presses\, dies\, powder\, primers\, bullets\, targets\, chronograph\, and six months of unlimited range time… plenty of everything to complete your first hand loading project. We even have several sets of presses\, dies\, scales\, and other tools for you that you can take and keep if you want\, to help get you started.  \nThere are 3 reasons why you would consider making your own ammunition:  \n\nBecause the ammo you want is hard to get. For example\, you are looking to make subsonic ammunition perfectly tuned to your barrel\, lead free hunting ammunition for California hunting requirements\, lead free frangible close range training ammunition\, major power factor competition ammunition\, or rare ammunition for obsolete antique firearms. \nBecause the ammo you make is better than factory ammo. All rifles are different\, and to tap into the fullest precision and accuracy your weapon can offer\, you will need to custom tune the ammunition to that unique weapon. If you are consistently shooting 1 Minute Of Angle and you want to start shooting consistently 1/2 Minute Of Angle\, it’s time to start handloading. \nTo save money. This class is for you. \nHandguards are inherently challenging to use\, and are dangerous to yourself and your family if used improperly. Having said that\, if you wish to use a firearm for self defense\, whether inside the home or out in public\, invariably you will need to learn the pistol or revolver\, because it is most likely what you will have when you need it most. \nIn this class\, we seek to understand how handguns work\, how to safely load\, unload\, and clear malfunctions\, and how best to defend yourself with a pistol or revolver in an urban space.
