SUMMARY:Firearm Safety Class 27JUL24
DESCRIPTION:Monarch Defense’s Firearm Safety Class is the most important class we offer\, and the most important class you will ever take during your self defense training. That’s why it is now free. \nLet’s face it. If self defense was easy\, you could just watch a few videos\, and “figure it out” by yourself. If firearms were easy\, schools such as ours would have no reason to exist. But that’s just not reality. Good people go to jail every day\, because they don’t know what they are doing. Good people become victims of crime every day\, because they don’t know what they are doing. Good people get hurt every day because they don’t know what they are doing. The study of firearms and self defense is a complex amalgamation of history\, science\, psychology\, and physical skill. Weapons are not toys\, and if used improperly can result in serious safety or legal hazards to you and your loved ones. \nThe problem that I often face as a teacher is students who want the “advanced” stuff and want to skip the basics. Folks expect to just buy a gun\, and magically know how and when to shoot bad guys. Some people watch some videos and think they are ready to go straight into fast\, cool training\, but this isn’t how it works. “Advanced” is just another word for “mastery of the basics”. There is no such thing as advanced training; There are only those who have taken the time to develop their foundation\, and those who haven’t. When beginners show up to advanced training without a solid foundation of attitude\, skill\, and knowledge\, all they will find is frustration. Out on the street there are winners\, and there are losers; There are those who mastered the basics\, and those who found out the hard way that they didn’t. This program exists to prepare you for a successful future in protecting yourself\, so that you can make wise decisions regarding buying\, learning\, carrying\, and using firearms. \nOver the last 11 years teaching professionally\, I have strived to design a thorough hands on learning experience which answers all of the questions that you need to know to get started. Information that you can’t just find online\, such as the role of weapons in society\, why peaceful people would have a need for “weapons of war”\, specifically when you can and cannot shoot someone\, the actual crimes that you can prevent with a gun\, real self defense case studies\, hands on comparison between the different types of guns\, so you can understand their real capabilities and limitations (not just Hollywood)\, proper gun handling procedures\, and live fire demonstrations. \nYou will handle and shoot a wide variety of modern firearms\, including pistols\, revolvers\, rifles\, and shotguns. \nLocation: \nOur facility is in the mountains 1 hour east from San Jose\, or 1 hour south from Livermore. If you are an unskilled or inexperienced driver\, give yourself 2 hours to make the drive from most cities of the bay area. We will email detailed driving instructions to you when you sign up. \nSchedule:  \nWe begin together and end together. If you sign up\, plan to stay until we debrief and clean up. \nThis is a two part class: Firearm Safety Class starts at 9am and ends at 3pm. We do not stop for lunch\, although you may bring food and eat during class. Beginner’s Live Fire Range day starts at 3pm and goes until 7pm\, or later\, depending on how fast the class learns. In the winter\, we split the class into two separate days. In the warmer months\, we offer them back to back. If you sign up to shoot\, clear your schedule and plan to be at the facility for the entire day. \nPrerequisites: \nNone \nRequired Equipment:  \nNotebook and writing utensil\nWater\nSnacks\nLunch\nDress for the weather\nPrescription glasses\, safety glasses\, or sunglasses\nEarplugs or ear muffs\nFirearms are provided\, but you may also bring your own. \nCancellations: \nWe do not offer refunds for discretionary cancellations. If you wish to reschedule a class\, you must email info@monarchdefense.org no later than 1 hour prior to class start\, and you will then be credited with the value of your course\, which you can gift to someone else or use for any future class within 1 year. \nQuestions? SUMMARY:Fundamentals of Riflecraft 28JUL24
DESCRIPTION:Valeriy Marcus\, master sergeant of the battalion\, called me to his office\, a dark narrow corridor with bunk beds on one side and shelves full of equipment on the other.  \nHe wanted me to give the young 47th battalion marksmen and snipers\, but with what resources? I’m a teacher\, not a magician….He pulled 200 rounds of 7.62x51mm ammunition from under his bed\, his personal ammo\, and asked me to divide it up amongst the students. 200 rounds for 40 students?  \nWe had just returned from our first rotation to the front lines\, and two guys Marcus had recruited who had prior combat experience with scopes rifles were killed. They had saved their pennies and bought a top of the line American made rifle\, the best scope they could afford\, a nice titanium silencer from Finland\, but had almost no ammo for it\, no training\, and nowhere to train. They never got a chance to shoot that rifle\, it was passed to me in mint condition.  \nI took stock of the equipment and resources we had in front of us; we had plenty of standard infantry rifles\, a surplus of standard ball ammunition and some captured Russian 7N6M armor piercing 5.45x39mm ammo. We had very few scopes\, but the real problem was scope mounts. Ukranian AK74s didn’t have side scope mounts.  \nA few guys had bought personal weapons\, an AR10 here\, an ar15 there\, a few off-the-books American m14 Cold War battle rifles\, but no ammo for NATO caliber weapons at that time\, no magazines for m14\, no scopes\, no scope mounts\, no steel targets… Dammit. How could I give them the training they needed? \nI wished then that I could bring those eager soldiers to our facility in California. We have every resource a young rifleman needs to train and learn and become confident in his skills. This was July 2022\, early in the war when everyone was tense. We improvised as best we could\, to prepare the boys for their dangerous future. Through a concerted effort from our Monarch Defense students at home\, donors all over the world\, volunteers in Poland and Ukraine\, and soldiers motivated to learn\, I was able to return to Ukraine in September 2022\, carrying on my back all the necessary scopes\, scope mounts\, magazines\, ammunition making equipment\, and we trained and equipped the bourgeoning 47th battalion’s (later brigade) marksmen\, snipers and rifle instructors.  \nThis is that class: everything you need to know about how to use a rifle\, in great detail\, with the focus and efficiency of looming life and death conflict\, but with the infinite resources and flexibility of our expansive Northern California shooting school. All rifles are fundamentally the same\, and skill with one type of rifle translates perfectly to skill with larger more capable weapons. This class is for folks who are looking to improve their technical knowledge of ballistics\, zeroing\, mental math\, bullet trajectory\, and shooting fundamentals. We welcome all calibers\, all barrel lengths\, all optical sighting systems. We provide rifles\, scopes\, and magazines free of charge to students who wish to borrow. Come and learn\, meet us and meet the facility\, and then make informed purchases once you know what to buy.  \nThis class is suited to beginners who are just learning to shoot a rifle\, and for experienced students looking to prepare a solid foundation as they get ready to transition to much bigger and more expensive weapon systems to shoot farther. If you are interested in long range precision shooting\, then start here to build your foundation. This class is technical and academic. It is not physically intense\, involves no running or crawling. Plan for 50% of the day to be notebook and whiteboard time. All shooting is slow fire for maximum precision and accuracy. If you are looking for the more physically and tactically intense training\, please see our Combat Rifle Series.  \nPrerequisite: \n\n\n \nYou must have prior safe weapons handling experience. \n\n\n \nTopics:  \n\n\n \nWhat is a rifle\, what does it do\, and what do we do with it? How do bullets fly\, or the study of ballisticsMinutes of angleMilliradiansYards versus metersInches vs centimetersDefining accuracy vs precisionProper zeroing procedureShooting positionsFinding your maximum theoretical effective rangePracticing hold over and hold undersDialing for distance vs holding for distanceHow to mount and level scopesComparison of rifle and caliber capabilities and how to select and buy equipmentFirst focal plane vs Second focal plane scopes  \n\n\n \nSchedule:  \n8:45 am Setup\, issue out ammo and weapons 9:00 am Safety brief and theory10:00 am Zeroing\, dry fire\, and fundamentals live fire practice on paper targets3:00 pm steel target practice on our known distance rifle range out to 800 meters/900 yards5:00 pm Debrief\, clean up\, go home  \n\n\n\n\n \nLocation: \nOur facility is in the mountains 1 hour east of San Jose\, 1 hour south from Livermore. SUMMARY:Special Purpose Rifle 3-4AUG24
DESCRIPTION:Welcome to the much anticipated 2024 Combat Rifle Series! This program consists of four two-day immersive classes\, that will cover all topics having to do with combat rifle craft\, starting with the basics\, and going all the way into night vision\, close quarter battle\, long range shooting and snipercraft. Classes include:  \nJune 1-2\, 2024 – Basic Combat RifleJuly 6-7\, 2024 – Advanced Combat RifleAugust 3-4\, 2024 – Special Purpose RifleSeptember 7-8\, 2024 – Tactical Precision Rifle \nPrerequisite: \n\n\n\nYou must have prior safe weapons handling experience.  \n\n\n\nDescription:  \nSpecial Purpose Rifle Rifle builds upon your foundation of basic riflecraft\, and allows the advanced practitioner to really stretch the capabilities of the modern high performance gas operated semi automatic rifle. Of course\, for those familiar with the famous mk12 Special Purpose Rifle\, the idea was revolutionary in 2002 during it’s inception\, to take a relatively standard infantry rifle\, add a scope to it\, and hybridize the rugged durability of an infantry weapon with the performance and precision of a target rifle\, thus giving combat marksmen the special ability to both employ their rifle as a normal rifleman\, as well as to stretch out beyond 800 meters\, greatly improving his unit’s precision\, range\, counter sniper ability\, and ability to suppress enemy crew served weapons\, all while maintaining great mobility and defensive firepower\, compared to a dedicated sniper who is burdened with slow\, delicate\, and specialized equipment.  \nWait\, hold on\, back up. Ahem! \nOf course\, those familiar with the famous Snayperskaya Vintovka Dragunova\, the SVD\, the idea was revolutionary in 1963 during it’s inception\, to take a semi automatic light weight infantry rifle\, customized and specialized for the role\, and add a scope to it to greatly stretch the capabilities of the infantry squad.  \nYou mean like what Americans were doing with M1C rifles\, in 1951? Pick the best and brightest and most promising of riflemen\, someone with steady hands\, good eyes\, a quick mind\, patience\, and who learned well\, then select a particularly accurate rifle\, mount a scope to it\, and give him extra training to increase the unit’s combat effectiveness? Surely\, it was a new idea in 1937 at the start of ww2. No? Surely\, then it was a revolutionary idea in 1914 then\, as Europe tore itself apart in the forests and trenches of France. No? Surely\, surely then\, this was state of the art training and philosophy in 1863 as the Berdan Sharpshooters proved their worth at the battle of Gettysburg\, Pennsylvania\, during the American Civil War.  \n…No… Not even then. You see\, as long as there have been soldiers with guns\, there have been both clueless idiots and a select minority of dedicated experts\, called different things over the years…jaegers\, snipers\, marksmen\, or just simply\, “Riflemen”\, as the difference isn’t so much in the type of weapon\, but rather in the skill\, training\, and lifelong dedication to mastering a craft that sets these men and women apart from their peers.  \nWhat we seek in Special Purpose Rifle is to master your weapon such that with the minimum amount of equipment you maximize your abilities to shoot and move\, both far and fast\, to be capable night and day in the defense and in the offense\, on the open battlefield and confined cityscape. Everyone has a rifle\, but not everyone knows how to use it. Even fewer people can really consider themselves masters of the art of small arms combat. Special Purpose Rifle is the next big step for you on the journey from from average practitioner to seasoned expert.  \nDuring Basic Combat Rifle\, we encourage students to strip down to the bare basics; to learn how to move safely and operate their weapons with reliability under stress\, and lay the foundation for quality marksmanship habits. During Advanced combat rifle\, we expand upon those basics with the capability to fight in the dark\, managing the added complexity with white lights\, lasers\, night vision\, red dots\, magnifiers\, and other combat optics\, secondary weapons\, and buddy pair teamwork. All of this thus far has been just out to 400 meters\, or 440 yards.  \nSpecial Purpose Rifle builds upon all of those\, and adds in range estimation\, gathering and dialing dope\, estimating wind\, and spotting and correcting fire for teammates\, including\, how to shoot at distance in the dark using thermal clip-on optics. You are welcome to bring your own rifle\, but we provide all rifles\, scopes\, night vision\, and thermal equipment free of charge. Ammunition is $80 per person per day for everything you need for training.  \nNumber of days: 2 \nLocation: \nOur facility is in the mountains 1 hour east of San Jose\, 1 hour south from Livermore. Detail directions will be emailed to those who sign up. \nPacking list:  \n\n\n\nSturdy bootsSturdy pantsBeltLong sleeve shirt or jacketGlovesLayer garments so you can adjust for cold\, wet\, or warm weatherHatRifle with 4+ magazines500+ rounds of ammunitionPistol and holster 100 rounds of pistol ammunitionCleaning kit with oil\, rag\, toothbrush\, barrel rodTools for mounting and adjusting your opticsSpare batteries for lights\, night vision\, lasersIndividual first aid kit (IFAK)Eye protectionEar protection 1 gallon of water per daySalty snacks and bag lunchBackpackSleeping bag or blanketsTowel and personal hygiene itemsWe provide rifles\, magazines\, magazine carriers\, pistols\, holsters and ammunition for you. SUMMARY:Night Combat Rifle 10AUG24
DESCRIPTION:Originally\, my plan was for us to conduct close quarter battle\, night optics training\, and live fire battle drills\, all three modules of training during just two days of Advanced Combat Rifle. As we found though\, this was just too ambitious. Thus\, I have re-adjusted the curriculum into individual modules\, so if folks who wish to focus on learning just one topic\, they have the opportunity to do so\, with greater convenience than an overnight weekend.   \nPrerequisite: \n\n\n\nYou must have prior safe weapons handling experience.  \n\n\n\nDescription:  \nNight Combat Rifle will review everything we learned in Basic Combat Rifle\, then add the use of night vision and thermal optics\, such that students learn to work around the challenges of night time operations\, and can begin to gain the advantages that darkness can provide in conflict. We will learn how how to select equipment\, how to mount night vision on a helmet\, how to calibrate an Infrared laser for shooting in the dark\, and how to use and calibrate a thermal scope. We will conduct an assortment of moving\, shooting\, and weapons manipulation training\, to practice the same skills we have learned previously in the daytime\, at night. You can expect the pace of this class to be slow and methodical\, as in the dark\, your safety is more important than trying to be fast.  \nWhereas in Basic Combat Rifle I really encourage the students to strip down their weapons to the bare basics\, Night Combat Rifle is the time to learn and understand how to use your lasers\, weapon mounted lights and night sights\, and head mounted night vision.  \nWe provide rifles\, lasers\, helmets\, night vision\, and thermal scopes. You do not need to bring your own in order to attend this class. If you have your own gear\, you are welcome to bring and use it.  \nLocation: \nOur facility is in the mountains 1 hour east of San Jose\, 1 hour south from Livermore. SUMMARY:Firearm Safety Class 24AUG24
SUMMARY:Tactical Precision Rifle 7-8SEP24
\n\n\n\nDescription:  \nTactical Precision Rifle Rifle builds upon your foundation of basic riflecraft\, and focuses on extending your effective range to 1200 meters and beyond\, using either the gas operated or bolt action sniper rifle. We provide all weapon systems\, scopes\, ammunition\, and equipment. You are certainly welcome to bring and use your own\, but buying expensive gear is not necessary.  \nWhereas during Special Purpose Rifle we were focused on engaging man sized targets out to 800 meters\, in a fast but “sloppy” manner\, as you take the next step forward in your growth and skills development with Tactical Precision Rifle\, we are now interested in maximizing precision\, despite constraints of the field environment\, finely tuning your “firing solution” and “DOPE” to the exact weather conditions\, wind\, and distance of the target.  \nThis process takes more care in range estimation\, wind estimation\, calculations regarding spindrift\, greater care when delivering the shot\, and greater communication and teamwork when spotting the splash or hit. In this class we must master new types of equipment\, such as tripods\, spotting scopes\, high caliber rifles\, anemometers\, ballistic calculators\, and chronographs\, but the fundamentals of precision shooting are always the same\, and once you understand the principles\, then we will turn our focus towards speed and performance under stress.  \nNumber of days: 2 \nLocation: \nOur facility is in the mountains 1 hour east of San Jose\, 1 hour south from Livermore. Detail directions will be emailed to those who sign up. \nPacking list:  \n\n\n\nSturdy bootsSturdy pantsBeltLong sleeve shirt or jacketGlovesLayer garments so you can adjust for cold\, wet\, or warm weatherHatRifle and scope250+ rounds of match ammunitionCleaning kit with oil\, rag\, toothbrush\, barrel rodTools for mounting and adjusting your opticsSpare batteries for lights\, night vision\, lasersIndividual first aid kit (IFAK)Eye protectionEar protection 1 gallon of water per daySalty snacks and bag lunchBackpackBoonie hatSleeping bag or blanketsTowel and personal hygiene itemsWe provide rifles\, magazines\, magazine carriers\, pistols\, holsters and ammunition for you. SUMMARY:Fundamentals of Riflecraft 28SEP24
\nWe had just returned from our first rotation to the front lines. Sergii and Kot\, two motivated and combat experienced soldiers that Marcus had recruited had asked me to train them\, but now they were dead. Kot was shot 4 times by the enemy while clearing a house\, and died in my arms as I worked to evacuate him. Sergii was the pointman and was killed instantly. They had saved their pennies and bought a top of the line American made Savage 110 Precision in .338 Lapua Magnum\, the best scope they could afford\, a nice titanium silencer from Finland\, but had almost no ammo for it\, no training\, and nowhere to train. They never got a chance to shoot that rifle\, as I only had a few hours with them before we went to battle\, and the rifle was later given to me in mint condition. Through a concerted effort from our Monarch Defense students at home\, donors all over the world\, volunteers in Poland and Ukraine\, and soldiers motivated to learn\, I was able to return to Ukraine in September 2022\, carrying on my back all the necessary scopes\, scope mounts\, magazines\, ammunition making equipment\, and we trained and equipped the nascent 47th brigade’s (only a battalion at that time) marksmen\, snipers and rifle instructors.  \nThis is that class:  \nEverything you need to know about how to use a rifle\, in great detail\, with the focus and efficiency of looming life and death conflict\, but with the infinite resources and flexibility of our expansive Northern California shooting school. \nWelcome to the much anticipated Fall 2024 Combat Rifle Series! This program consists of six 1-day immersive classes that will cover everything you need to know of how to use a modern carbine or fighting rifle\, and how to understand the tool’s role in the greater tactical framework of modern human conflict\, starting with the basics\, and going all the way into low light fighting\, night vision\, close quarter battle\, teamwork and tactics\, precision shooting out to 400 meters and beyond\, how to use red dots and magnifiers\, lasers\, LPVO and ACOG scopes\, ballistic theory\, and so much more!  \nThe full package of 6 classes gives you an awesome price of $96 per class\, between August 15th and August 31st\, as a reward for those who are bold enough to grab the bull by the horns. Then the price will go back to standard price. Each class is action packed and 10 hours long. If you have a schedule conflict\, you may simply mix and match with future class dates\, to customize your package to your schedule. Email Brian at info@monarchdefense.org for details.  \nFundamentals of Riflecraft is suited to beginners who are just learning to shoot a rifle\, and for experienced students looking to prepare a solid foundation as they get ready to transition to much bigger and more expensive weapon systems to shoot farther. If you are interested in long range precision shooting\, then start here to build your foundation. This class is technical and academic. It is not physically intense\, involves no running or crawling. Plan for 50% of the day to be notebook and whiteboard time. All shooting is slow fire for maximum precision and accuracy. If you are looking for the more physically and tactically intense training\, please see the rest of our Combat Rifle Series.  \nFall 2024 Combat Rifle Series dates: \nFall 2024 Combat Rifle Series dates: \nBasic Combat Rifle\, Saturday 31st of August\, 2024.Live Fire Battle Drills\, Saturday 14th of September\, 2024.Fundamentals of Riflecraft\, Saturday 28th of September\, 2024.Combat Rifle Optics\, Saturday 12th of October\, 2024. Close Quarters Combat Rifle\, Saturday November 9th\, 2024.Advanced Combat Rifle\, Saturday December 7th\, 2024.  \nAlternate Dates: (In case you miss the earlier dates and still want to join for the later advanced classes) \nBasic Combat Rifle\, Saturday 27th of October\, 2024.Fundamentals of Riflecraft\, Sunday 10th of November\, 2024. \nPrerequisite: \n\n\n \nYou must have prior safe weapons handling experience. \n\n\n \nTopics:  \n\n\n \nWhat is a rifle\, what does it do\, and what do we do with it? How do bullets fly\, or the study of ballisticsMinutes of angleMilliradiansYards versus metersInches vs centimetersDefining the size of the target for hunting\, fighting\, and target shootingDefining accuracy vs precisionProper zeroing procedureShooting positions\, especially Rifleman’s Prone and Perfect ProneFinding your maximum theoretical effective rangePracticing hold-over and hold-undersDialing for distance vs holding for distanceHow to mount and level scopesComparison of rifle and caliber capabilities and how to select and buy equipmentFirst focal plane vs Second focal plane scopes  \n\n\n \nSchedule:  \n8:45 am Setup\, issue out ammo and weapons 9:00 am Safety brief and theory10:00 am Zeroing\, dry fire\, and fundamentals live fire practice on paper targets3:00 pm steel target practice on our known distance rifle range out to 800 meters/900 yards5:00 pm Debrief\, clean up\, stay and practice on the open range till it gets dark\, or go home  \nLocation: \nOur facility is in the mountains 1 hour east of San Jose\, 1 hour south from Livermore. SUMMARY:Combat Rifle Optics 12OCT24
DESCRIPTION:ACOG vs. LPVO vs. Red Dot & Magnifier \nFor decades\, the Trijicon Advanced Combat Optical Gunsight\, or ACOG\, has been the king of weapon sights\, renown for of it’s toughness\, reliability\, quality\, and compact size\, but in recent years\, the development of smaller\, lighter\, and more capable low powered variable scopes has challenged the traditional notion that glass optics can only be used for long range shooting. Let’s also not forget the classic red dot and magnifier combination\, pioneered by EoTech\, that gives users both ideal speed in low light and at close ranges\, and also increased capabilities to identify and engage targets at distance. Which of these is the best? How do you use all of these various types of scopes on a general duty carbine?  \nCarbines that once used to be considered good for only 200-300 meters with iron sights these days have gained the advantages of free floating barrels\, match triggers\, quality ammunition\, and can easily hit targets out to 600 meters or more with the right training\, skill\, and optical sighting device. \nIn this specialty seminar let’s understand the unique niche that the Low Power Variable Optics\, ACOGs\, and Red Dot + Magnifier sights holds in the modern age of sporting and combat weapons\, allowing users to shoot faster\, and farther\, greatly extending a carbine’s flexibility and precision while still maintaining light weight\, a low profile\, reliability\, toughness\, and good close range weapons handling.   \nLearn how to maximize the strengths of your optic\, while mitigating and overcoming it’s weaknesses. Gather specific tips on zeroing\, range estimation\, reticle selection\, and engaging targets both near and far. If you have recently acquired a surplus ACOG through our school’s group buy\, or are considering purchasing one\, this is a great class for you to learn all about what it can do\, what it can’t do\, and how to use it. If you are looking to upgrade the sighting system on your rifle\, attend this class first before you potentially waste thousands of dollars on poor quality gear. We provide rifles and scopes for you to borrow!   \nWelcome to Part 4 of the Fall 2024 Combat Rifle Series: Combat Rifle Optics \nThe full package of 6 classes gives you an awesome price of $96 per class\, between August 15th and August 31st\, as a reward for those who are bold enough to grab the bull by the horns. SUMMARY:Principles of CQB 19OCT24
DESCRIPTION:Welcome to the Winter 2024-2025 Urban Series! This program consists of nine seminars spanning October through March\, that will cover everything you need to know about how to use a modern pistol\, shotgun\, and carbine\, how to navigate and your way through rooms\, doorways\, hallways\, and how to understand the weapon’s role in the greater tactical framework of modern crime\, home defense\, concealed carry\, and SHTF (Shit Hit The Fan\, zombies\, natural disaster\, civil unrest\, etc.). We’ll start with the basics\, going all the way into low light gunfighting\, close quarter battle\, teamwork and tactics\, force on force training with real live adversaries who shoot and stab back\, how to calibrate and use red dots on your pistol\, how to shoot your pistol with speed and precision\, patterning buckshot\, how bullets go through walls and cars\, and so much more! \nEach 10 hour day of training brings you exciting new opportunities for niche topics\, specialized equipment such as Simunition non-lethal weapons and ammunition\, moving targets\, live fire inside our ballistic shoot house from inside a vehicle\, and lots of full speed shooting and moving repetition from the holster to build up your confidence! Meet new friends and mentors along the way as you train together class after class! Don’t have gear? Don’t worry\, we supply all weapons\, ammunition\, holsters\, and protective equipment; All you need to do is bring yourself\, a good attitude\, and a belt.  \nPick your package of any 6 classes! Mix and match whatever fits your skill level\, your schedule\, and your interests for an awesome price of just $124 per class. The first twelve students to buy the package receive an additional 22.5% off\, so that’s only $96 per day of training! This is the reward for those who are bold enough to grab the bull by the horns. Hesitate and you’ll miss out! If during the series you get a schedule conflict\, or want to reschedule a date\, simply email Brian at info@monarchdefense.org to take a credit for something else!  \nWant to join more than 6 classes? Buy the package\, and add additional classes in the series for only $56 each! Sounds crazy\, right? We aim to take care of our loyal students. Ready to look at your calendar?   \nDates included in this series:  \nOctober 19th\, 2024 – Principles of Close Quarter BattleNovember 16th\, 2024 – High Intensity Gunfight DrillsNovember 24th\, 2024 – Fundamentals of PistolcraftDecember 14th\, 2024 –  Home Defense ShotgunDecember 15th\, 2024 – Live Fire Solo CQBJanuary 11th\, 2025 – Performance PistolJanuary 26th\, 2025 – Fundamentals of PistolcraftFebruary 8th\, 2025 – Partner Force on Force CQBFebruary 9th\, 2025 – PDW\, PCC\, and AR PistolsMarch 8th\, 2025 – Advanced Concealed Handgun \nIf a private citizen must conduct armed self defense\, it will invariably be within the urban environment\, such as in and around cars\, parking lots\, homes\, offices\, or local businesses. Thus\, all students of self defense gunfighting should learn how to fight and move and problem solve in the urban environment\, right? \nOh\, but in our industry there is a magical aura around ‘Close Quarter Battle’\, you have to whisper the words…This dark magic is only for the elite\, The Special Navy Delta Recon Green Power Rangers… Yet\, once you actually get in front of one of these “Tier 1” instructors\, you realize that their professional experience has absolutely no bearing on the life and reality of normal people. You hear such nonsense as “I don’t teach CQB to civilians”\, “you cannot do CQB by yourself”\, “kneel down when reloading so your buddies can shoot over the top of your head then wait until someone grabs your armor to pull you up”…Does any instructor have a program that teaches regular civilians how to fight\, defend\, and win inside and around cars\, parking lots\, gas stations\, homes\, and businesses? \nWe do.  \nIn this specialty seminar let’s understand the unique environment that buildings entail for modern day defensive gunfighting. We can begin by understanding the context of military style CQB doctrine\, and how the goals of military or police in offense are very different from the goals of civilians in defense\, yet the basic principles remain unchanged. Compare and contrast the major schools of thought between charging directly into rooms\, versus methodically clearing rooms from the doorway. Learn how to maximize the strengths of cover and concealment afforded by doorways and hallways\, while overcoming the challenges of restricted and narrow terrain. Gather specific tips on footwork\, how to move\, and how to win against a live opponent who fights back.  \n\n\n\nPrerequisite: \n\n\n\nYou must have prior safe weapons handling experience to attend this seminar.  \n\n\n\nTopics:  \n\n\n\nWhat is Close Quarter Battle?Stalingrad 1942\, the birth of modern urban fighting doctrineFighting foot forwardAngles\, angles\, anglesKnowns vs. unknowns2 types of entry2 types of rooms2 types of corners2 types of doorHuman reaction timeAdvantages of the defenseAdvantages of the offenseForce on force practical exercise \n\n\n\n\n\nLocation: \nOur facility is in the mountains 1 hour east of San Jose\, 1 hour south from Livermore. SUMMARY:Firearm Safety Class 26OCT24
\nThis is a two part class: Firearm Safety Class starts at 9am and ends at roughly 3pm. SUMMARY:Resiliency School 2-3NOV24
DESCRIPTION:America is the land of frontiersman. \nOur parents\, grandparents and great grandparents undertook tremendous risk moving to an unfamiliar land. A land rife with wild beasts\, dangerous men\, harsh weather\, and foreign customs; They risked everything to leave the old country to find a better future. To survive in this new world meant that they had to use every skill they had brought from the old world\, combined with learning and adapting as quickly as possible to the new landscape. Some survived and raised offspring; many didn’t. The children of these pioneers are called “Americans”\, named after Amerigo Vespucci\, an Italian explorer known for “discovering” the new world. We are genetically different from those who never left the comfort of the old world; You are tough\, adaptable\, resilient\, and willing to take risks. In this 2 day class we explore what it means to be a natural born survivor.  \nWhile our forefathers endured harsh lives and hard labor\, today we enjoy the infrastructure that they built. We live comfortable\, convenient\, safe lives\, insulated from the daily struggle to survive\, at least in the traditional sense of the word. Yet\, we struggle in other ways: We as a society struggle to find connection\, purpose\, and happiness. We worry about money\, and self-image. We hate going to work yet we are slaves to our employers and cannot find the courage to quit. We go to school without seeing a purpose for a degree. We live in the land of freedom\, yet are trod upon by overbearing bureaucrats. \nI often find myself helping students look for historical perspectives to answer modern problems. We humans have been here on earth for a long time\, and we have become the dominant species on this earth because we found simple solutions to universal problems. If you go back 50\, 100\, 500 years\, the same troubles we deal with today existed then. How did our grandfathers solve them? If only we could go back to ask them for advice. \nDuring this weekend adventure\, join me on a journey that takes you away from your cell phones\, away from your cars\, and let us find perspective on modern problems by learning and practicing old life skills. The skills that humanity needs no matter how rich or complex our society seems\, or what chaos happens around us. These skills allow you to be a durable\, resilient human being\, and to be able to remain calm and lead your families during times of hardship\, chaos\, or emergency.  \nNo matter what happens tomorrow\, can you ensure that those you love have food\, shelter\, clean water\, warmth\, and safety?  \nThis is a family friendly event. We do not charge tuition for children under 18\, although they must still pay for course materials. For parents\, think of this as a perfect time to get your teenagers away from their phones so they can interact with other kids and adults of all ages\, build friendships\, role models\, and develop their love for the great outdoors.  \nPrerequisite: \n\n\n\nNone  \n\n\n\nTopics: \nTying knotsBuilding shelterPurifying waterStarting fireFinding foodSharpening knives and axesFelling a treeSplitting wood with an axeSleeping under the starsCatch\, kill\, clean\, cook\, and eat a real live animalCaring for your health: stretching\, exercise\, nutrition\, sleepPhysical\, mental and emotional resilienceMarriage\, relationships\, communicationDealing with bullies\, criticism\, and negativityFinding purpose and happiness in lifeDeveloping the habit of doing difficult things \nNumber of days: 2 \nLocation: \nOur facility is in the mountains 1 hour east of San Jose\, 1 hour south from Livermore. SUMMARY:Fundamentals of Riflecraft 10NOV24
DESCRIPTION:Valeriy Marcus\, master sergeant of the battalion\, called me to his office\, a dark narrow corridor on the first floor of a dilapidated hospital with bunk beds on one side and shelves full of equipment on the other. \nWe had just returned from our first rotation to the front lines. Sergii and Kot\, two motivated and combat experienced soldiers that Marcus had recruited had asked me to train them\, but now they were dead. Kot was shot 4 times by the enemy while clearing a house\, and died in my arms as I worked to evacuate him Sergii was the pointman and was killed instantly. \nWelcome to the much anticipated Fall 2024 Combat Rifle Series! SUMMARY:High Intensity Gunfighting Drills 16NOV24
\nWe do.  \nIn this day of training\, let’s capitalize on the cool fall weather to run high volume\, high round count repetition drills that practice and realistically simulate the movement\, and skills necessary to win a modern day defensive gunfight. Shake out your gear\, build confidence in your ability to safely move with your weapon. Draw from the holster\, and practice teamwork and partner drills.   \n\n\n\nPrerequisite: \n\n\n\nYou must have prior safe weapons handling experience to attend this seminar.  \n\n\n\nTopics:  \n\n\n\nMoving safely with firearmsMuzzle direction\, finger discipline\, fire selector manipulationFootwork for sidestep and turn and faceOne hand and two hand draw from holsterLong gun to sidearm transitionShooting and movingOne handed shooting and hand changeBill DrillEl PresidenteIstanbul DrillMozambique DrillEli Dicken Drill…and many other drills! \nLocation: \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n300 acre private facility in the Diablo mountains 1 hour east of San Jose\, 1 hour south of Livermore. SUMMARY:Firearm Safety Class 23NOV24
\nThis is a two part class: Firearm Safety Class starts at 9am and ends at roughly 3pm.
