SUMMARY:LPVO Class 6APR24
DESCRIPTION:In recent years\, the development of smaller\, lighter\, and more durable variable power scopes has challenged the traditional notion that scopes can only be used for long range\, and are unsuitable for close range moving and shooting. Simultaneously\, carbines used to be considered good for 200-300 meters\, but with the advantages of variable magnification\, you can accurately hit targets out to 600 meters. \nIn this specialty seminar let’s understand the unique niche that the Low Power Variable Optic holds in the modern age of sporting and combat weapons\, allowing users to shoot faster\, and farther greatly extending a carbine’s flexibility and precision while still maintaining light weight\, a low profile\, and good close range weapons handling.   \nLearn how to maximize the strengths of your new LPVO scope\, while mitigating and overcoming it’s shortcomings. Gather specific tips on zeroing\, range estimation\, reticle selection\, and engaging targets both near and far.  \n\n\n\nPrerequisite: \n\n\n\nYou must have prior safe weapons handling experience to attend this seminar.  \n\n\n\nTopics:  \n\n\n\nDesign philosophy of lightweight low power variable scopesWhat makes a successful combat optic?Basic overview of function and capabilitiesProper mounting and levelingEye reliefDiopter adjustmentParallaxUsing the reticle to range and shoot farther targetsFirst focal plane vs. Second focal planeBackup sights and piggyback red dotsHow much magnification do I need? Tall mounts vs. regular height mountsProper zeroing procedureMinutes of angle and MilliradiansHoldovers and holdundersFast wind estimationLow light considerationsRealistic and theoretical effective rangesHigh stress shooting and moving drills from 0-600 meters \n\n\n\nSchedule:  \n8:45 am Setup\, issue out ammo and weapons 9:00 am Safety brief and theory12:00 noon Low intensity dry practice and slow live fire to learn new technical skills 3:00 pm High intensity\, high round count moving and shooting drills5:00 pm Debrief\, clean up\, go home  \n\n\n\n\n\nLocation: \nOur facility is in the mountains 1 hour east of San Jose\, 1 hour south from Livermore. SUMMARY:Defensive Handgun Fundamentals 14APR24
DESCRIPTION:Defensive Handgun Fundamentals is a full day immersive class designed for beginner and intermediate students who have completed Monarch Defense’s 6 hour Firearm Safety Class\, and wish to deepen their understanding of self defense using a pistol or revolver\, and concealed carry. \nWe start where Firearm Safety Class leaves off\, defining specifically the circumstances under which we use handguns. In other words\, we must study the river before we can study bridges. Next\, will discuss the science of hollow point bullets\, tactical human anatomy\, the capabilities and limitations of your weapon\, how to draw from the holster\, then fundamentals of breathing\, aiming\, stance\, grip\, and trigger press. We will provide you with dry fire and live fire exercises to fix or prevent common shooting errors such as flinch\, recoil anticipation\, or shooting low and to the left. The late afternoon will be spent practicing rapid fire and recoil control\, giving you a chance to shoot fast at realistic self defense distances\, including shooting while moving. By the end of the day you will have a strong understanding of all 6 manipulations for loading\, unloading\, and clearing malfunctions on the modern semi automatic pistol. You will be able to draw your weapon swiftly and shoot it accurately and rapidly with one hand and two hands under stress and while moving. This is the essence of defensive handgun. \nWe can provide holsters\, firearms\, and ammunition for you. Simply choose the “Ammunition” ticket option when you check out. \nPrerequisite:  \nFirearm Safety Class\, or equivalent training is highly recommended. \nLocation: \nOur facility is in the mountains 1 hour east of San Jose\, 1 hour south from Livermore. SUMMARY:Principles of Raid 20APR24
DESCRIPTION:Principles of Raid is the 4th and final installment from Monarch Defense’s small unit tactics series offered spring 2024. This curriculum was previously offered only in Monarch Defense’s Special Purpose Rifle School. After gathering customer feedback for several years\, this year we aim to break up the curriculum into recurring once-a-month classes that will allow you more flexibility in scheduling. \nThis class will introduce students to modern tactical theory\, field movement\, leadership\, teamwork\, and the unique American fighting doctrine which was born of a hybrid of Native American and European fighting methods\, and despite being codified by Robert Rogers in 1757\, is still used and taught to this day. \nCase in point\, this highly condensed and efficient introductory class is exactly what our team of seasoned instructors compiled for and taught to the all-volunteer 47th Separate Battalion during the summer of 2022\, which later became the 47th Separate Mechanized Brigade of the Ukraine Armed Forces who spearheaded the counteroffensive against Russian occupation during the summer of 2023. These were regular people just like you who made the decision to learn how to fight. \nThose who study history find that there are cycles and patterns which repeat themselves\, so if you understand history\, you are able to predict and prepare for the future. \nIn 1775\, the young United States was losing a war against the Great Britain\, most powerful military in the world at the time\, and turned to an expert military instructor from Prussia named Friedrich Wilhelm Von Steuben for help. The rag tag colonial militiamen had the heart to fight\, but needed to learn teamwork and tactics. This training is what eventually lead to the defeat of Great Britain in 1783. \nIn 1937 China found itself invaded by a superior imperial Japanese army. The Chinese Communist Party Liberation Army managed to survive WW2 by the skin of it’s teeth\, then went on to fight and win a civil war from 1945-1949\, then fought the United States in direct combat in Korea in the 1950-1953\, so by the time Ho Chi Minh\, leader of North Vietnam turned to China for military aid during the Vietnam War from 1955-1975\, Chinese advisors were well qualified to teach the north Vietnamese commoner how to fight and win against a technologically superior professional adversary\, leading to the defeat of the United States in 1975. \nThe Soviet Union\, the largest country in the world\, invaded and occupied Afghanistan from 1979 to 1989\, and for 10 years despite having an overwhelming advantage in technology and military might\, were defeated by essentially peasants with old rifles and the occasional shoulder launched anti-aircraft missile. What was the secret to their success? American funded guerrilla training and tactics. So successful was this proxy war for the Americans\, that it lead to the literal collapse of the Soviet Union\, ending the Cold War. \nFast forward to 2001 and the United states made the same mistake as the USSR\, attempting a military occupation of Afghanistan. Those same Afghans who defeated the USSR\, by now well experienced in guerilla warfare\, refused to be subjugated by the United States\, the most powerful military in the world\, and after 20 years of occupation\, yet again in 2021\, the bigger\, more technologically advanced aggressor withdrew. Do you see the pattern? \nIn each of these cases the underdog\, a ragtag collection of laymen\, was able to defeat a numerically and technologically superior adversary through discipline\, tactics\, simple weapons\, and an understanding of combat theory. \nIf you understand that history repeats itself\, then when will it be your turn to fight for your freedom\, your sovereignty\, your family\, or your survival against a superior adversary? When that time comes\, would you rather find yourself scrambling to survive\, or would you rather learn how to fight now\, such that when the time comes you become the proverbial warrior in a garden\, rather than the gardener in a war? \n\n\n\nLocation:\nMeet and park at 37505 San Antonio Valley Road\, Mt Hamilton\, CA 95140. Cell reception is unreliable out here\, do not trust Apple maps/Google maps/Wayz. Detailed driving directions will be emailed to those who register. \nPacking List: \nNotebook and writing utensil\, highly recommend Rite in the Rain 4″x6″ and a short wood pencil 1 gallon of waterLunch and snacksBackpack to carry your equipmentCanteens or camel back to carry minimum 2 liters of water on your personBoots Wool socks Extra socks wrapped in plastic bag Combat uniform such as US Army surplus Flame Resistant Army Combat Uniform (FRACU) which can be purchased on eBay for about $45 top and bottom Camouflage boonie hat with foliage loopsGloves 5.56x45mm caliber rifle equipped with Boland FX hollywood full load blank fire adapter (borrow from the school) Muzzle on blank adapted weapons must be painted bright yellow (school can provide you with a blank adapter and painted muzzle device) 5+ 30 round Magpul Pmags (borrow from the school) Submit $80 via the website for ammo and grenades Tourniquet IFAK (individual first aid kit) highly recommended Night Vision if you have itHelmet if you have itRifle rated body if you have it22 caliber barrel cleaning rod Rifle cleaning kit\, with oil\, rag\, toothbrush\, and star chamber brush \nCost: \n$124 per class when you buy the whole 4 class series\, or $275 per class if you buy them singly. 4 class package for $496 includes: \nPrinciples of Patrol 1/21/24Care Under Fire 2/18/24Principles of Ambush 3/17/24Principles of Raid 4/20-21/24 \nHow can I contact the organizer with my questions? \nBrian Wang is the event organizer. SUMMARY:Firearm Safety Class 27APR24
DESCRIPTION:Monarch Defense’s Firearm Safety Class is the most important class we offer\, and the most important class you will ever take during your self defense training. That’s why it is now free. \nLet’s face it. If self defense was easy\, you could just watch a few videos\, and “figure it out” by yourself. If firearms were easy\, schools such as ours would have no reason to exist. But that’s just not reality. Good people go to jail every day\, because they don’t know what they are doing. Good people become victims of crime every day\, because they don’t know what they are doing. Good people get hurt every day because they don’t know what they are doing. The study of firearms and self defense is a complex amalgamation of history\, science\, psychology\, and physical skill. Weapons are not toys\, and if used improperly can result in serious safety or legal hazards to you and your loved ones. \nThe problem that I often face as a teacher is students who want the “advanced” stuff and want to skip the basics. Folks expect to just buy a gun\, and magically know how and when to shoot bad guys. Some people watch some videos and think they are ready to go straight into fast\, cool training\, but this isn’t how it works. “Advanced” is just another word for “mastery of the basics”. There is no such thing as advanced training; There are only those who have taken the time to develop their foundation\, and those who haven’t. When beginners show up to advanced training without a solid foundation of attitude\, skill\, and knowledge\, all they will find is frustration. Out on the street there are winners\, and there are losers; There are those who mastered the basics\, and those who found out the hard way that they didn’t. This program exists to prepare you for a successful future in protecting yourself\, so that you can make wise decisions regarding buying\, learning\, carrying\, and using firearms. \nOver the last 11 years teaching professionally\, I have strived to design a thorough hands on learning experience which answers all of the questions that you need to know to get started. Information that you can’t just find online\, such as the role of weapons in society\, why peaceful people would have a need for “weapons of war”\, specifically when you can and cannot shoot someone\, the actual crimes that you can prevent with a gun\, real self defense case studies\, hands on comparison between the different types of guns\, so you can understand their real capabilities and limitations (not just Hollywood)\, proper gun handling procedures\, and live fire demonstrations. \nYou will handle and shoot a wide variety of modern firearms\, including pistols\, revolvers\, rifles\, and shotguns. \nLocation: \nOur facility is in the mountains 1 hour east from San Jose\, or 1 hour south from Livermore. If you are an unskilled or inexperienced driver\, give yourself 2 hours to make the drive from most cities of the bay area. We will email detailed driving instructions to you when you sign up. \nSchedule:  \nWe begin together and end together. If you sign up\, plan to stay until we debrief and clean up. \nThis is a two part class: Firearm Safety Class starts at 9am and ends at 3pm. We do not stop for lunch\, although you may bring food and eat during class. Beginner’s Live Fire Range day starts at 3pm and goes until 7pm\, or later\, depending on how fast the class learns. In the winter\, we split the class into two separate days. In the warmer months\, we offer them back to back. If you sign up to shoot\, clear your schedule and plan to be at the facility for the entire day. \nPrerequisites: \nNone \nRequired Equipment:  \nNotebook and writing utensil\nWater\nSnacks\nLunch\nDress for the weather\nPrescription glasses\, safety glasses\, or sunglasses\nEarplugs or ear muffs\nFirearms are provided\, but you may also bring your own. \nCancellations: \nWe do not offer refunds for discretionary cancellations. If you wish to reschedule a class\, you must email info@monarchdefense.org no later than 1 hour prior to class start\, and you will then be credited with the value of your course\, which you can gift to someone else or use for any future class within 1 year. \nQuestions? SUMMARY:Firearm Safety Class 25MAY24
DESCRIPTION:Monarch Defense’s Firearm Safety Class is the most important class we offer\, and the most important class you will ever take during your self defense training. SUMMARY:ACOG Class 26MAY24
DESCRIPTION:The Trijicon Advanced Combat Optical gunsight has been the king of combat optics for decades\, because of it’s toughness\, reliability\, quality\, and compact size. While previously this optic was too expensive for the average consumer\, at about $1000 each\, recently\, many of the scopes that have served the military and department of defense are finding their way onto the surplus market for much less than what a new one cost. If you have recently acquired one of these optics with our school’s group buy\, or are considering purchasing one\, this is a great class to learn all about how to use it. \nIf you have been training with iron sights and red dot optics\, and are looking to further your rifle training to longer ranges and more complex sighting systems\, then this also a great class\, as we can provide you a scope to borrow free of charge. All you have to do is sign up early and use the RSVP form to reserve a scope under your name.  \nThese days\, all the fashion is about low power variable optics\, yet time and time again we see that LPVO’s fail due to their high price\, low durability\, and high complexity. Whereas LPVO’s are sexy and offer a lot of features in theory\, their disadvantages really show in the field environment\, and greatly point users towards the advantage of the ACOG…simplicity…speed…durability!  \nIn this specialty seminar let’s understand the unique niche that ACOG scopes holds in the modern age of sporting and combat weapons\, allowing users to shoot faster\, and farther\, greatly extending a carbine’s flexibility and precision while still maintaining light weight\, a low profile\, and good close range weapons handling.   \nLearn how to maximize the strengths of your new ACOG scope\, while mitigating and overcoming it’s shortcomings. Gather specific tips on zeroing\, range estimation\, reticle selection\, and engaging targets both near and far.  \n\n\n\nPrerequisite: \n\n\n\nYou must have prior safe weapons handling experience to attend this seminar.  \n\n\n\nTopics:  \n\n\n\nDesign philosophy of the Trijicon Advanced Combat Optical GunsightWhat makes a successful combat optic?Basic overview of function and capabilitiesProper mounting and levelingEye reliefDiopter adjustmentParallaxFirst Focal Plane vs. Second Focal PlaneCleaning and MaintenanceUsing the reticle to range far targetsLPVO vs. ACOGRed Dot vs ACOGPrismatic optic advantages for those with astigmatismBindon Aiming ConceptBackup sights and piggyback red dotsQuick detach mounting optionsMounting to Kalashnikov and rifles other than ar15/ar10How much magnification do I need? Tall mounts vs. regular height mountsProper zeroing procedureMinutes of angle and MilliradiansHoldovers and holdundersFast wind estimationLow light considerationsRealistic and theoretical effective rangesHigh stress shooting and moving drills from 0-600 meters \n\n\n\nSchedule:  \n8:45 am Setup\, issue out ammo and weapons 9:00 am Safety brief and theory10:00 am Zeroing and fundamentals live fire practice12:00 noon Known distance target practice from 100-600 meters4:00 pm High intensity\, high round count moving and shooting drills at various ranges7:00 pm Debrief\, clean up\, go home  \n\n\n\n\n\nLocation: \nOur facility is in the mountains 1 hour east of San Jose\, 1 hour south from Livermore. SUMMARY:Fundamentals of Riflecraft 16JUN24
DESCRIPTION:Valeriy Marcus\, master sergeant of the battalion\, called me to his office\, a dark narrow corridor with bunk beds on one side and shelves full of equipment on the other.  \nHe wanted me to give the young 47th battalion marksmen and snipers\, but with what resources? I’m a teacher\, not a magician….He pulled 200 rounds of 7.62x51mm ammunition from under his bed\, his personal ammo\, and asked me to divide it up amongst the students. 200 rounds for 40 students?  \nWe had just returned from our first rotation to the front lines\, and two guys Marcus had recruited who had prior combat experience with scopes rifles were killed. They had saved their pennies and bought a top of the line American made rifle\, the best scope they could afford\, a nice titanium silencer from Finland\, but had almost no ammo for it\, no training\, and nowhere to train. They never got a chance to shoot that rifle\, it was passed to me in mint condition.  \nI took stock of the equipment and resources we had in front of us; we had plenty of standard infantry rifles\, a surplus of standard ball ammunition and some captured Russian 7N6M armor piercing 5.45x39mm ammo. We had very few scopes\, but the real problem was scope mounts. Ukranian AK74s didn’t have side scope mounts.  \nA few guys had bought personal weapons\, an AR10 here\, an ar15 there\, a few off-the-books American m14 Cold War battle rifles\, but no ammo for NATO caliber weapons at that time\, no magazines for m14\, no scopes\, no scope mounts\, no steel targets… Dammit. How could I perform the training they wanted me to perform? \nI wished then that I could just teleport those 40 eager soldiers in my care straight to California to train at our facility… we have every resource a young rifleman needs to train and learn and become confident in his skills. This was July 2022\, early in the war when everyone was tense. We improvised as best we could\, to prepare the boys for their dangerous future.  \nLater\, through a concerted effort from our Monarch Defense students at home\, donors all over the world\, volunteers in Poland and Ukraine\, and soldiers motivated to learn\, I was able to return to Ukraine in September 2022\, carrying on my back all the necessary scopes\, scope mounts\, magazines\, ammunition making equipment\, and we trained and equipped the bourgeoning 47th battalion’s (later brigade) marksmen\, snipers and rifle instructors.  \nThis is that class: everything you need to know about how to use a rifle\, in great detail\, with the focus and efficiency of looming life and death conflict\, but with the infinite resources and flexibility of our expansive Northern California shooting school. All rifles are fundamentally the same\, and skill with one type of rifle translates perfectly to skill with larger more capable weapons. This class is for folks who are looking to improve their technical knowledge of ballistics\, zeroing\, mental math\, bullet trajectory\, and shooting fundamentals. We welcome all calibers\, all barrel lengths\, all optical sighting systems. We also provide rifles\, scopes\, and magazines free of charge to students who wish to borrow\, hence you don’t need to worry about having the right gear. Come and learn\, meet us and meet the facility\, and then make informed purchases once you know what to buy.  \nThis class is suited to beginners who are just learning to shoot a rifle\, and for experienced students looking to prepare a solid foundation as they get ready to transition to much bigger and more expensive weapon systems to shoot farther. If you are interested in long range precision shooting\, then start here to build your foundation. This class is technical and academic. It is not physically intense\, involves no running or crawling. Plan for 50% of the day to be notebook and whiteboard time. All shooting is slow fire for maximum precision and accuracy. If you are looking for the more physically and tactically intense training\, please see Basic Combat Rifle.  \nPrerequisite: \n\n\n \nYou must have prior safe weapons handling experience. \n\n\n \nTopics:  \n\n\n \nWhat is a rifle\, what does it do\, and what do we do with it? How do bullets fly\, or the study of ballisticsMinutes of angleMilliradiansYards versus metersInches vs centimetersDefining accuracy vs precisionProper zeroing procedureShooting positionsFinding your maximum theoretical effective rangePracticing hold over and hold undersDialing for distance vs holding for distanceHow to mount and level scopesComparison of rifle and caliber capabilities and how to select and buy equipmentFirst focal plane vs Second focal plane scopes  \n\n\n \nSchedule:  \n8:45 am Setup\, issue out ammo and weapons 9:00 am Safety brief and theory11:00 am Zeroing and fundamentals live fire practice2:00 pm target practice on paper targets with drills to improve shooting fundamentals5:00 pm steel target practice on our known distance rifle range out to 800 meters/900 yards7:00 pm Debrief\, clean up\, go home  \n\n\n\n\n \nLocation: \nOur facility is in the mountains 1 hour east of San Jose\, 1 hour south from Livermore. SUMMARY:Firearm Safety Class 22JUN24
SUMMARY:Battle Rifle Class 29JUN24
DESCRIPTION:The United States was the first large military to field a self loading infantry rifle\, the M1 Garand\, in 1936. The Soviet Union\, Nazi Germany\, and other nations knew that their WW1 era bolt action rifles were obsolete\, but on the verge of total war\, many nation’s experiments to modernize their infantry rifles were halted in order to focus on mass production of older\, more proven technology. Quickly though the rigors of a new type of maneuver warfare showed all parties of the war that a new type of weapon was called for.  \nEnter what we commonly today call the “Battle Rifle”\, a broad category of rifles which we can describe as being an intermediary design\, predating modern assault rifles such as the Avtomat Kalashnikova and the American M16\, while superseding turn of the century and Great War era bolt action rifles such as the Mosin Nagant\, the Lee-Enfield\, and the Springfield 1903. These weapons such as the FN FAL\, so called the “right arm of the free world”\, the Heckler and Koch G3\, and the American M14\, dominated the cold war landscape\, and found themselves spread far and wide on proxy war battlefields\, such as the Vietnam War\, the Rhodesian Bush War\, and even till this day\, are still serving in conflicts such as Ukraine\, and Myanmar.  \nIn this fun and social seminar\, learn about these classic cold war rifles\, understand their characteristics\, their designs\, their limitations\, and then run them hard in the environments they were made for…harsh\, rigorous combat in dust\, mud\, ice\, and rain\, at close range and at long range\, in dense forest and in open desert. We will prepare presentations on history\, doctrine\, zeroing procedure\, and manual of arms specifically for: M1 Garand\, M14\, FAL\, G3\, SKS\, AR10\, and SCAR17. If you have a different battle rifle you want to bring\, and present\, please reach out to Brian at info@monarchdefense.org and let us know! \nPrerequisite: \n\n\n\nYou must have prior safe weapons handling experience to attend this seminar.  \n\n\n\nTopics:  \n\n\n\nDesign philosophy of 1930-1970 self loading military rifles“Show and tell” of classic and new production battle riflesWhat makes a successful combat weaponBasic overview of function and capabilitiesCleaning and maintenanceLoading\, unloading and malfunction procedureCaliber comparison: 30-06\, 7.62x54r\, 7.62 NATO\, 7.62×39\, etc.Full auto vs semi auto?Ammunition carrying capacity\, and combat doctrineModernizing old war horsesAre they accurate enough for long range?Proper zeroing procedureHigh speed shooting and moving drills from 0-800 meters \n\n\n\nSchedule:  \n8:45 am Setup\, issue out ammo and weapons 9:00 am Safety brief and theory11:00 am Zeroing and fundamentals live fire practice12:00 noon Known distance target practice from 100-800 meters4:00 pm High intensity\, high round count moving and shooting drills at various ranges7:00 pm Debrief\, clean up\, go home  \n\n\n\n\n\nLocation: \nOur facility is in the mountains 1 hour east of San Jose\, 1 hour south from Livermore. SUMMARY:Advanced Combat Rifle 6-7JUL24
DESCRIPTION:Welcome to the much anticipated 2024 Combat Rifle Series! This program consists of four two-day immersive classes\, that will cover all topics having to do with combat rifle craft\, starting with the basics\, and going all the way into night vision\, close quarter battle\, long range shooting and snipercraft. Classes include:  \nJune 1-2\, 2024 – Basic Combat RifleJuly 6-7\, 2024 – Advanced Combat RifleAugust 3-4\, 2024 – Special Purpose RifleSeptember 7-8\, 2024 – Tactical Precision Rifle \nPrerequisite: \n\n\n\nYou must have prior safe weapons handling experience.  \n\n\n\nDescription:  \nAdvanced Combat Rifle will review everything we learned in Basic Combat Rifle\, all weapon manipulations\, malfunction clearing procedures\, moving and shooting\, shooting fast\, zeroing\, fundamentals of marksmanship\, and man sized target engagements out to 400 meters. SUMMARY:Firearm Safety Class 27JUL24
SUMMARY:Fundamentals of Riflecraft 28JUL24
How could I give them the training they needed? \nI wished then that I could bring those eager soldiers to our facility in California. We have every resource a young rifleman needs to train and learn and become confident in his skills. This was July 2022\, early in the war when everyone was tense. We improvised as best we could\, to prepare the boys for their dangerous future. Through a concerted effort from our Monarch Defense students at home\, donors all over the world\, volunteers in Poland and Ukraine\, and soldiers motivated to learn\, I was able to return to Ukraine in September 2022\, carrying on my back all the necessary scopes\, scope mounts\, magazines\, ammunition making equipment\, and we trained and equipped the bourgeoning 47th battalion’s (later brigade) marksmen\, snipers and rifle instructors. We provide rifles\, scopes\, and magazines free of charge to students who wish to borrow. If you are looking for the more physically and tactically intense training\, please see our Combat Rifle Series.  \nPrerequisite: \n\n\n \nYou must have prior safe weapons handling experience. \n\n\n \nTopics:  \n\n\n \nWhat is a rifle\, what does it do\, and what do we do with it? How do bullets fly\, or the study of ballisticsMinutes of angleMilliradiansYards versus metersInches vs centimetersDefining accuracy vs precisionProper zeroing procedureShooting positionsFinding your maximum theoretical effective rangePracticing hold over and hold undersDialing for distance vs holding for distanceHow to mount and level scopesComparison of rifle and caliber capabilities and how to select and buy equipmentFirst focal plane vs Second focal plane scopes  \n\n\n \nSchedule:  \n8:45 am Setup\, issue out ammo and weapons 9:00 am Safety brief and theory10:00 am Zeroing\, dry fire\, and fundamentals live fire practice on paper targets3:00 pm steel target practice on our known distance rifle range out to 800 meters/900 yards5:00 pm Debrief\, clean up\, go home  \n\n\n\n\n \nLocation: \nOur facility is in the mountains 1 hour east of San Jose\, 1 hour south from Livermore. SUMMARY:Special Purpose Rifle 3-4AUG24
\n\n\n\nDescription:  \nSpecial Purpose Rifle Rifle builds upon your foundation of basic riflecraft\, and allows the advanced practitioner to really stretch the capabilities of the modern high performance gas operated semi automatic rifle. Of course\, for those familiar with the famous mk12 Special Purpose Rifle\, the idea was revolutionary in 2002 during it’s inception\, to take a relatively standard infantry rifle\, add a scope to it\, and hybridize the rugged durability of an infantry weapon with the performance and precision of a target rifle\, thus giving combat marksmen the special ability to both employ their rifle as a normal rifleman\, as well as to stretch out beyond 800 meters\, greatly improving his unit’s precision\, range\, counter sniper ability\, and ability to suppress enemy crew served weapons\, all while maintaining great mobility and defensive firepower\, compared to a dedicated sniper who is burdened with slow\, delicate\, and specialized equipment.  \nWait\, hold on\, back up. Ahem! \nOf course\, those familiar with the famous Snayperskaya Vintovka Dragunova\, the SVD\, the idea was revolutionary in 1963 during it’s inception\, to take a semi automatic light weight infantry rifle\, customized and specialized for the role\, and add a scope to it to greatly stretch the capabilities of the infantry squad.  \nYou mean like what Americans were doing with M1C rifles\, in 1951? Pick the best and brightest and most promising of riflemen\, someone with steady hands\, good eyes\, a quick mind\, patience\, and who learned well\, then select a particularly accurate rifle\, mount a scope to it\, and give him extra training to increase the unit’s combat effectiveness? Surely\, it was a new idea in 1937 at the start of ww2. No? Surely\, then it was a revolutionary idea in 1914 then\, as Europe tore itself apart in the forests and trenches of France. No? Surely\, surely then\, this was state of the art training and philosophy in 1863 as the Berdan Sharpshooters proved their worth at the battle of Gettysburg\, Pennsylvania\, during the American Civil War.  \n…No… Not even then. You see\, as long as there have been soldiers with guns\, there have been both clueless idiots and a select minority of dedicated experts\, called different things over the years…jaegers\, snipers\, marksmen\, or just simply\, “Riflemen”\, as the difference isn’t so much in the type of weapon\, but rather in the skill\, training\, and lifelong dedication to mastering a craft that sets these men and women apart from their peers.  \nWhat we seek in Special Purpose Rifle is to master your weapon such that with the minimum amount of equipment you maximize your abilities to shoot and move\, both far and fast\, to be capable night and day in the defense and in the offense\, on the open battlefield and confined cityscape. Everyone has a rifle\, but not everyone knows how to use it. Even fewer people can really consider themselves masters of the art of small arms combat. Special Purpose Rifle is the next big step for you on the journey from from average practitioner to seasoned expert.  \nDuring Basic Combat Rifle\, we encourage students to strip down to the bare basics; to learn how to move safely and operate their weapons with reliability under stress\, and lay the foundation for quality marksmanship habits. During Advanced combat rifle\, we expand upon those basics with the capability to fight in the dark\, managing the added complexity with white lights\, lasers\, night vision\, red dots\, magnifiers\, and other combat optics\, secondary weapons\, and buddy pair teamwork. All of this thus far has been just out to 400 meters\, or 440 yards.  \nSpecial Purpose Rifle builds upon all of those\, and adds in range estimation\, gathering and dialing dope\, estimating wind\, and spotting and correcting fire for teammates\, including\, how to shoot at distance in the dark using thermal clip-on optics. You are welcome to bring your own rifle\, but we provide all rifles\, scopes\, night vision\, and thermal equipment free of charge. Ammunition is $80 per person per day for everything you need for training.  \nNumber of days: 2 \nLocation: \nOur facility is in the mountains 1 hour east of San Jose\, 1 hour south from Livermore. SUMMARY:Night Combat Rifle 10AUG24
DESCRIPTION:Originally\, my plan was for us to conduct close quarter battle\, night optics training\, and live fire battle drills\, all three modules of training during just two days of Advanced Combat Rifle. As we found though\, this was just too ambitious. Thus\, I have re-adjusted the curriculum into individual modules\, so if folks who wish to focus on learning just one topic\, they have the opportunity to do so\, with greater convenience than an overnight weekend.   \nPrerequisite: \n\n\n\nYou must have prior safe weapons handling experience.  \n\n\n\nDescription:  \nNight Combat Rifle will review everything we learned in Basic Combat Rifle\, then add the use of night vision and thermal optics\, such that students learn to work around the challenges of night time operations\, and can begin to gain the advantages that darkness can provide in conflict. We will learn how how to select equipment\, how to mount night vision on a helmet\, how to calibrate an Infrared laser for shooting in the dark\, and how to use and calibrate a thermal scope. We will conduct an assortment of moving\, shooting\, and weapons manipulation training\, to practice the same skills we have learned previously in the daytime\, at night. You can expect the pace of this class to be slow and methodical\, as in the dark\, your safety is more important than trying to be fast.  \nWhereas in Basic Combat Rifle I really encourage the students to strip down their weapons to the bare basics\, Night Combat Rifle is the time to learn and understand how to use your lasers\, weapon mounted lights and night sights\, and head mounted night vision.  \nWe provide rifles\, lasers\, helmets\, night vision\, and thermal scopes. You do not need to bring your own in order to attend this class. If you have your own gear\, you are welcome to bring and use it.  \nLocation: \nOur facility is in the mountains 1 hour east of San Jose\, 1 hour south from Livermore.
