SUMMARY:Ammunition Science 23MAR2025
DESCRIPTION:Ammunition Science is a semi-private class that will teach you how to master making your own pistol and rifle ammunition quickly\, safely\, cheaply\, and precisely. This training is provided in three parts: Part 1 will be theory and introduction taught hands on in person at our shop. Part 2 will be testing\, chronographing and grouping done at the shooting range. Part 3 will be high volume production back in the shop.  \nThis specific date is for Part 1\, the longest part. Because the training is so hand-on\, we set a maximum class size of only 4 students. Due to the small class size and high demand\, if all tickets are sold out\, please email admin@monarchdefense.org to be added to the wait list\, and you will be notified of the next available date\, or if a spot opens up due to cancellation. You will schedule parts 2 and 3 later 1-on-1 with me\, and it is flexible to your schedule. If you buy this class\, you are paying for all 3 parts\, plus all tools\, presses\, dies\, powder\, primers\, bullets\, targets\, chronograph\, and six months of unlimited range time… plenty of everything to complete your first hand loading project. We even have several sets of presses\, dies\, scales\, and other tools for you that you can take and keep if you want\, to help get you started.  \nThere are 3 reasons why you would consider making your own ammunition:  \n\nBecause the ammo you want is hard to get. For example\, you are looking to make subsonic ammunition perfectly tuned to your barrel\, lead free hunting ammunition for California hunting requirements\, lead free frangible close range training ammunition\, major power factor competition ammunition\, or rare ammunition for obsolete antique firearms. \nBecause the ammo you make is better than factory ammo. All rifles are different\, and to tap into the fullest precision and accuracy your weapon can offer\, you will need to custom tune the ammunition to that unique weapon. If you are consistently shooting 1 Minute Of Angle and you want to start shooting consistently 1/2 Minute Of Angle\, it’s time to start handloading. \nTo save money. Especially if combined with the first 2 reasons.  \nI lied\, there is a 4th reason: Because you think the science of rifles and ammunition is fascinating and you want to learn just because it is cool. \nI lied again: Because you live in California and you believe the California ammunition background check and 11% “sin” tax are unconstitutional and evil\, so you insist on make your own in protest. \n\nLearn:  \n4 Components of modern metallic cartridgesHow ammunition worksBullet selectionPowder selectionCase sorting Washing or cleaningDryingMedia separationLubricationAnnealingResizing TrimmingDeprimingPrimer pocket preparation Neck sizingPrimingDispensing powderSeating bulletCrimping case mouthPolishingQuality controlChoosing and buying a pressHigh precision long range rifle handloadingHigh volume progressive and automated reloadingOther tools you will needWorking up a safe powder chargeUnderstanding how to use reloading manuals and chartsChronographing and grouping your loadsThorough record keepingPrerequisite: \nYou must have prior safe weapons handling experience.  \nLocation: \nOur shop space is in San Jose. SUMMARY:Tactical Precision Rifle Theory 5APR25
DESCRIPTION:Tactical precision rifle is a lifelong journey\, a passion\, a dedication to the true modern martial art and science; The mastery of a skill so simple\, yet so nuanced; Available to all\, yet fully understood by few. In this class\, we introduce the curious beginner to everything that it takes to become a master marksman. Curiosity is all it takes to begin.   \nHurry to sign up and secure your seat in the class. Space is limited\, so if we sell out\, email admin@monarchdefense.org to be added to the waiting list. Remember to email us if you change your mind or if you can’t come\, so we can give your seat to someone else.  \nThis is a free class\, but you will pay a non-refundable $20 facility fee.  \nLearn: \n4 components of your weapon systemThe purpose of precision rifle trainingWhat is a sniper\, exactly? Precision vs Accuracy \nHow far can you actually shoot? How do we measure precision? How to use minutes of angle? How to use milliradians? \nBullet trajectoryBall ammunition vs Match ammunitionFast math vs good math for precision rifle calculationsWhat is DOPE? \nThe functions and features of precision rifle scopesHow to choose a rifle and cartridge for long range precision shootingAccessories and support equipment that you will needTips for how to practice \nYou could watch YouTube videos and figure things out by yourself\, but if you get something wrong\, no one will be there to coach or guide you\, and a simple error could plague your learning and development as a shooter. If you want to go to the public range and entertain yourself at 100 yards with your elbows on a table\, be my guest\, but that sounds boring. If you want to go out to BLM and have stray bullet wiz past you from random strangers\, or have other people shoot holes in your target\, be my guest to talk with my friend and student Mike who got shot through both legs out there. If you want to be forever an “experienced beginner”\, be my guest. Youtube Tactical University is always free\, but your time is valuable. Or\, take the bold first step to beginning your formal education on precision rifle craft\, combat rifle craft\, and sniper craft from a seasoned professional. \nThis class is designed to provide beginners with a solid introduction to the attitude\, skill\, and knowledge you will need to succeed in the journey towards becoming expert riflemen.  \nMy name is Brian Wang. I have been teaching firearm safety\, self defense\, and the combat use of firearms for 11 years professionally.  I have been a teacher since 2006. I have trained kung fu since 2007. I completed sniper school in 2010. I have been licensed to carry a concealed weapon since 2013. I trained\, equipped\, and in large part gave birth to the Ukrainian 47th Mechanized Brigade’s snipers and designated marksmen. I am a father and a husband and a small business owner. I have taught over 10\,000 students in Florida\, Texas\, Arizona\, Arkansas\, Nevada\, Ukraine\, and California. I own and operate at 300 acre dedicated tactical training facility only 1 hour from the bay area. It is my honor to be your instructor\, and to bring you all of this knowledge for free. \nI have strived to design a thorough hands on learning experience\, with the most detail in the shortest time possible. SUMMARY:Principles of Ambush 19APR2025
DESCRIPTION:Welcome to 2025 Small Unit Tactics series! \nPrinciples of Ambush is the 4th installment of Monarch Defense’s small unit tactics series offered spring 2025. This curriculum was previously offered only to military students and in Special Purpose Rifle School\, and after gathering customer feedback for several years\, this year we aim to break up the curriculum into recurring once-a-month classes that will allow you more flexibility in scheduling. \nThis class will introduce students to modern tactical theory\, field movement\, leadership\, teamwork\, and the unique American fighting doctrine which was born of a hybrid of Native American and European fighting methods\, and despite being codified by Robert Rogers in 1757\, is still used and taught to this day. \nCase in point\, this highly condensed and efficient introductory class is exactly what our team of seasoned instructors compiled for and taught to the all-volunteer 47th Separate Battalion during the summer of 2022\, which later became the 47th Separate Mechanized Brigade of the Ukraine Armed Forces who spearheaded the counteroffensive against Russian occupation during the summer of 2023. These were regular people just like you who made the decision to learn how to fight. \nThose who study history find that there are cycles and patterns which repeat themselves\, so if you understand history\, you are able to predict and prepare for the future. \nIn 1775\, the young United States was losing a war against the Great Britain\, most powerful military in the world at the time\, and turned to an expert military instructor from Prussia named Friedrich Wilhelm Von Steuben for help. The rag tag colonial militiamen had the heart to fight\, but needed to learn teamwork and tactics. This training is what eventually lead to the defeat of Great Britain in 1783. \nIn 1937 China found itself invaded by a superior imperial Japanese army. The Chinese Communist Party Liberation Army managed to survive WW2 by the skin of it’s teeth\, then went on to fight and win a civil war from 1945-1949\, then fought the United States in direct combat in Korea in the 1950-1953\, so by the time Ho Chi Minh\, leader of North Vietnam turned to China for military aid during the Vietnam War from 1955-1975\, Chinese advisors were well qualified to teach the north Vietnamese commoner how to fight and win against a technologically superior professional adversary. Leading to the defeat of the United States in 1975. \nThe Soviet Union\, the largest country in the world\, invaded and occupied Afghanistan from 1979 to 1989\, and for 10 years despite having an overwhelming advantage in technology and military might\, were defeated by essentially peasants with some old rifles and the occasional shoulder fired anti aircraft missile. What was the secret to their success? American funded guerrilla training and tactics. So successful was this proxy war for the Americans\, that it lead to the literal collapse of the Soviet Union\, ending the Cold War. \nFast forward to 2001 and the United states made the same mistake as the USSR\, attempting a military occupation of Afghanistan. Those same Afghans who defeated the USSR refused to be subjugated by the United States\, the most powerful military in the world\, and after 20 years of occupation\, yet again in 2021\, the bigger\, more technologically advanced aggressor withdrew\, admitted defeat. Do you see the pattern? \nIn each of these cases the underdog\, a ragtag collection of laymen\, is able to defeat a numerically and technologically superior adversary through discipline\, tactics\, simple weapons\, and an understanding of combat theory. \nIf you understand that history repeats itself\, then when will it be your turn to fight for your freedom\, your sovereignty\, your family\, or your life against a superior adversary? When that time comes\, would you rather find yourself scrambling to survive\, or would you rather learn how to fight now\, such that when the time comes you become the proverbial warrior in a garden\, rather than the gardener in a war? \nFollowing the theory lesson we will go out into the field to train and practice these skills in simulated stress with blank fire weapons\, a real life human opposing force\, and be able to debrief and do better. \nThe Small Unit Tactics Series consists of five 10 hour immersive classes that will give you a broad introduction to modern fighting tactics. This includes basic tactical theory\, hand signals\, casualty evacuation\, leadership\, mission planning\, attack\, defense\, ambush\, raid\, night operations\, and more!  \nYou can sign up for classes individually or purchase the entire package of 5 classes for an awesome deal. Each class is technical\, detailed\, and action packed. We offer a both a primary and an auxiliary date for Basic Tactical Fieldcraft\, as this information is critical for safe and smooth advanced training later in the series.  If you can’t make a class you signed up for\, simply email Brian at info@monarchdefense.org and we can credit you or reschedule you for a future date.  \n2025 Small Unit Tactics Series dates: \nBasic Tactical Fieldcraft\, Saturday 18th of January\, 2025.Principles of Patrol\, Saturday 15th of February\, 2025.Basic Tactical Fieldcraft\, Sunday 9th of March\, 2025.Care Under Fire\, Saturday 15th of March\, 2025.Principles of Ambush\, Saturday 19th of April\, 2025.Principles of Raid\, Saturday 17th of May\, 2025. \nPrerequisite: \nYou must have prior safe weapons handling experience.  \nLocation: \nOur facility is in the mountains 1 hour east of San Jose\, 1 hour south from Livermore. I have traveled the country to learn from the best mentors and take the best instructor certification programs available. I have been to war and watched friends die. I have survived a guided missile\, helicopter rockets\, artillery bombardment\, aviation bombs\, strafing by infantry fighting vehicle cannon\, and disease on the front line. Expect 50% of your class to be lecture and discussion\, and 50% to be hands on with guns\, shooting\, and moving.  \nLocation: \nOur facility is in the mountains 1 hour east of San Jose\, 1 hour south from Livermore. Detail directions will be emailed to those who sign up. Note this is a location change as of 4/16/25 \nSchedule:  \nYou are welcome to come before class and practice\, as well as stay afterwards to practice.  \nWe meet at 1:30pm. If you have to come in a bit late\, don’t worry\, just come when you can. If you can’t come\, please do email admin@monarchdefense.org to let us know so we can give your ticket to someone else\, since space is limited. We will end at 6:30pm\, and the range will remain open till dark for folks who want to hang out\, ask questions\, practice\, etc.  \nPrerequisites: \nNone \nRequired Equipment:  \nNotebook and writing utensilPrescription glasses or clear safety glassesFirearms and ammunition are provided\, but you may also bring your ownIf you do bring a firearm\, ensure that it is unloaded and locked during transport.  \nCancellations: \nWe do not offer refunds for discretionary cancellations. If you wish to reschedule a class\, you must email info@monarchdefense.org no later than 1 hour prior to class start\, and you will then be credited with the value of your course\, which you can gift to someone else or use for any future class within 1 year. \nQuestions? SUMMARY:Tactical Precision Rifle: D.O.P.E. 27APR25
DESCRIPTION:This class is part of the summer 2025 Tactical Precision Rifle Series. This program consists of 5 half day modules that will cover all topics having to do with long range precision rifle shooting\, the science of bullet flight\, and the tactical application of precision riflecraft. These 5 modules are:  \n\nTactical precision rifle theory\nPrecision shooting fundamentals\nGathering DOPE from 100-1000 meters\nEstimating and compensating for wind\nPutting it all together  \n\nIf you would like to participate in this training program\, call Brian at 408-892-5460 or email info@monarchdefense.org. \nPrerequisite: \n\n\n\nYou must have prior safe weapons handling experience. All modules must be taken in sequence. You must successfully pass each module with the instructor’s approval to attend the next module.   \n\n\n\nDescription:  \nD.O.P.E. is an acronym that stands for “data on prior engagements”. Generally you think of a rifle’s zero as calibrating the rifle’s point of impact to the point of aim at one distance. In long distance rifle shooting we actually have a baseline zero like normal\, then we gather as many as possible additional zeros at known distances in order to gather data such that we compile a notebook full of information for future use.  \nExpect our training to begin by confirming zero at 100 meters on paper\, then we will move back to shoot at steel targets from 100 meters all the way out to 1000 meters.  \nOur goal is to build up your shooting skills and consistency such that you can reliably achieve 1 minute of angle groups with either the bolt action or semi automatic sniper rifle\, which will equate to effective range on man sized targets at 1200 meters and beyond.  \nRemember\, we can provide for you all weapon systems\, scopes\, ammunition\, and equipment. You are certainly welcome to bring and use your own\, but buying expensive gear is not necessary to participate in this training course. Always communicate proactively with the instructor if you need to use the school’s equipment and ammunition so that we can prepare for you.  \nLocation: \nOur facility is in the mountains 1 hour east of San Jose\, 1 hour south from Livermore. SUMMARY:Tactical Precision Rifle: WIND 3MAY25
DESCRIPTION:This class is part of the summer 2025 Tactical Precision Rifle Series. All modules must be taken in sequence. You must successfully pass each module with the instructor’s approval to attend the next module.   \n\n\n\nDescription:  \nIn precision long range rifle shooting\, distance and elevation corrections are very predictable and easy to calculate. That is a science. On the other hand\, feeling the wind\, seeing the wind\, predicting the wind\, knowing how the wind flows – how the sun\, weather\, oceans\, and mountains affects the flow of air over the earth – that is an art that takes nuance and experience to master. In this module I will present to you key concepts for how to visualize how the wind is moving\, then a few simple quick mathematical formulas for how to estimate how much the wind will effect your bullet in flight\, and how to compensate for it. Then\, we will practice together\, and on your own you will practice\, and practice\, and practice.  \nExpect our training to begin by confirming zero at 100 meters on paper\, then we will move to the western ridge to engage targets across the valley between 400 and 1200 meters distance with distinct and challenging cross winds.  \nOur goal is to build up your experience reading the wind\, such that you can reliably achieve first round impacts on man sized targets at 600 meters\, 2nd round impacts out to 1000 meters.   \nRemember\, we can provide for you all weapon systems\, scopes\, ammunition\, and equipment. You are certainly welcome to bring and use your own\, but buying expensive gear is not necessary to participate in this training course. SUMMARY:Principles of Raid 17MAY2025
DESCRIPTION:Welcome to 2025 Small Unit Tactics series! \nPrinciples of Raid is the 5th and final installment from Monarch Defense’s small unit tactics series offered spring 2025. We will put everything that we have learned so far about movement\, logistics\, teamwork\, leadership\, mission planning\, attack\, defense\, fieldcraft\, stealth\, and night operations to the test against a live team of Opposing Force (OpFor) in order to avoid detection and conduct a night mission! The Chinese Communist Party Liberation Army managed to survive WW2 by the skin of it’s teeth\, then went on to fight and win a civil war from 1945-1949\, then fought the United States in direct combat in Korea in the 1950-1953\, so by the time Ho Chi Minh\, leader of North Vietnam turned to China for military aid during the Vietnam War from 1955-1975\, Chinese advisors were well qualified to teach the north Vietnamese commoner how to fight and win against a technologically superior professional adversary\, leading to the defeat of the United States in 1975. \nThe Soviet Union\, the largest country in the world\, invaded and occupied Afghanistan from 1979 to 1989\, and for 10 years despite having an overwhelming advantage in technology and military might\, were defeated by essentially peasants with old rifles and the occasional shoulder launched anti-aircraft missile. Those same Afghans who defeated the USSR\, by now well experienced in guerilla warfare\, refused to be subjugated by the United States\, the most powerful military in the world\, and after 20 years of occupation\, yet again in 2021\, the bigger\, more technologically advanced aggressor withdrew. Do you see the pattern? \nIn each of these cases the underdog\, a ragtag collection of laymen\, was able to defeat a numerically and technologically superior adversary through discipline\, tactics\, simple weapons\, and an understanding of combat theory. \nIf you understand that history repeats itself\, then when will it be your turn to fight for your freedom\, your sovereignty\, your family\, or your survival against a superior adversary? When that time comes\, would you rather find yourself scrambling to survive\, or would you rather learn how to fight now\, such that when the time comes you become the proverbial warrior in a garden\, rather than the gardener in a war? \nPrerequisite: \n\n\n\nTactical Precision Rifle Theory \n\n\n\nDescription:  \nTactical Precision Rifle Fundamentals teaches the 7 aspects of rifle shooting technique. Those are: body position\, natural point of aim\, breathing\, sight alignment\, sight picture\, trigger press\, and follow through. Expect our training to be conducted primarily on the 100 meter line\, shooting from the prone position on paper targets. SUMMARY:Tactical Precision Rifle: Wind 14JUN25
\nPrerequisite: \n\n\n\nTactical Precision Rifle D.O.P.E \n\n\n\nDescription:  \nIn precision long range rifle shooting\, distance and elevation corrections are very predictable and easy to calculate. Always communicate proactively with the instructor if you need to use the school’s equipment and ammunition so that we can prepare for you.  \nLocation: \nOur facility is in the mountains 1 hour east of San Jose\, 1 hour south from Livermore. Detail directions will be emailed to those who sign up. \nPacking list:  \n\n\n\nNotebook and writing utensilSturdy bootsSturdy pantsBeltLong sleeve shirt or jacketGlovesLayer garments so you can adjust for cold\, wet\, or warm weatherBrimmed hatRifle and scope200 rounds of match ammunitionCleaning kit with oil\, rag\, toothbrush\, barrel rodTools for mounting and adjusting your opticsSpare batteries for scopes\, lights\, night vision\, lasers etc.Individual first aid kit (IFAK)Eye protectionEar protection 1 gallon of water per daySalty snacks and bag lunchBackpackSleeping bag or blankets if camping overTowel and personal hygiene items if camping overWe provide rifles\, magazines\, magazine carriers\, pistols\, holsters etc. for you. While weapons and gear are free to borrow\, we ask you to clean everything you used before turning it back in. We can supply all the ammunition you need\, including match ammunition\, for $80 per person per day. Simply choose the “Ammunition” ticket option during checkout. Payments by Venmo to brian-wang-11 are also acceptable.  \n\n\n\n\nWhat is the cancellation policy? \nWe do not issue refunds\, except for in extreme and unforeseeable circumstances. SUMMARY:Combat Rifle Theory 20JUN25
DESCRIPTION:Combat riflecraft is a lifelong journey\, a passion\, a dedication to the true modern martial art and science. Everyone has a rifle\, but very few actually know how to use it. In this class\, we introduce the curious beginner to everything that it takes to become a confident and skilled warrior in the modern age. Curiosity is all it takes to begin.   \nHurry to sign up and secure your seat in the class. Space is limited. If we sell out\, email admin@monarchdefense.org to be added to the waiting list. Remember to email us if you change your mind or if you can’t come\, so we can give your seat to someone else.  \nThis is a free class\, but you will pay a non-refundable $20 facility fee.  \nPrerequisite: \nNone \nLearn: \n4 components of your weapon systemThe purpose of combat rifle trainingWhat is a rifleman\, exactly? The different roles of riflemen\, light machine gunners\, grenadiers\, marksmen\, and snipers \nIntroduction to the AR15\, America’s favorite rifleIntroduction to the Avtomat Kalashnikova\, the world’s favorite rifleWeapons disassembly and maintenanceHow to buy or build your own rifle \nQuick math for zeroing weaponsThe science of bullet flight and battle zeroBullet wounding effects and barrier penetrationBall\, tracer\, frangible\, blanks\, and when we use the different types of ammo \nChoosing combat rifle scopes and opticsCommon rifles\, cartridges\, calibers\, and bulletsAccessories and support equipment that you will needGoal setting and tips for practice \nYou could watch YouTube videos and figure things out by yourself\, but if you get something wrong\, no one will be there to coach or guide you\, and a simple error could plague your learning and development as a shooter. If you want to go to the public range and entertain yourself at 100 yards with your elbows on a table\, be my guest\, but that sounds boring to me. If you want to go out to public land and have stray bullets wiz past you from random strangers who don’t care about your safety\, be my guest to talk with my friend and student Mike who got shot through both legs. If you want to be forever an “experienced beginner”\, be my guest. Youtube Tactical University is always free\, but your time is valuable. Or\, take the bold first step to beginning your formal education on combat rifle craft from a seasoned professional. Expect 50% of your class to be lecture and discussion\, and 50% to be hands on with guns\, shooting\, and moving.  \nLocation: \n\n\n\nThis class is taught at MPT\, a gun shop.
