Fundamentals of Fighting Rifle is your opportunity for a beginner friendly all-answers-in-one-place primer for folks who may have just bought their first rifle, are interested in purchasing a first rifle, or are interested in starting their journey in formal tactical firearm training, but don’t know where to start.
As with all of our Fundamental series classes, the only prerequisite is that you can demonstrate clear knowledge of firearm safety.
We will discuss and train on the following topics:
Why own a rifle
Review of gun safety
What is the second amendment and what does it mean to me?
How does someone purchase a rifle in California
How to navigate California guns laws
What can a modern rifle do and not do
How to load, unload, and clear malfunctions with common rifles
How to choose sights, optics, slings and accessories
How to stand, hold, breathe, aim and fire a rifle effectively
The two types of prone position
If we have time: Kneeling position
Internal, external and terminal ballistics (The science of bullets)
What is a minute of angle, quantifying precision and accuracy
How to zero, or calibrate sights and scopes
If we have time: How to disassemble and clean a rifle
If we have time: orientation on several common fighting rifles currently in usage around the world
We will introduce some core shooting drills that will get your heart pumping and allow you to test out what you have learned under controlled stressful conditions. Finally, we’ll take a group photo and clean up the range. We would love to hear your feedback and suggestions for how we can improve the program in the future.
