Welcome to the debut of our new pilot program, Introduction to Fighting Rifle! As with all of our pilot programs, you are looking at an exciting and very limited opportunity for innovative and high quality training at a great price, with small class sizes and high instructor to student ratio.
In exchange for these perks, you understand you’re buying a program which is in the pre-production/ beta testing/ prototyping/ experimental/ developmental stages, and as such, things may be presented out of sequence, the curriculum will be imperfect, we might forget some gear, or run overtime, etc. Cool? Cool.
The goal of this program is to create a beginner friendly, all-answers-in-one-place primer for folks who may have just bought their first rifle, are interested in purchasing a first rifle, or are interested in starting their journey in formal tactical firearm training, but don’t know where to start.
As with all of our into series classes, we will address gun safety in great detail, and devote a good chunk of time in discussing “Scope and Purpose”, with questions such as:
Why own a rifle?
What is the second amendment and what does it mean to me?
How does someone purchase a rifle in California
How do navigate California guns laws
What can a modern rifle do and not do?
How to load, unload, and clear malfunctions with common rifles.`
How to choose sights, optics, slings and accessories
How to stand, hold, breathe, aim and fire a rifle effectively.
How to zero, or calibrate the sights or scope
How to disassemble and clean a rifle
We may then wrap up the class with some fun races and friendly competitions in marksmanship, and in all the skills you learned! Before we go, as usual, we’ll take a group photo and clean up the range and then we would love to hear your feedback and suggestions for how we can improve the program in the next go-around.
You will need:
1 gallon of water
Rifle of any kind. You can borrow one if you don’t have your own.
100 rounds of practice ammo
At least 2 spare magazines, if applicable
Gun cleaning kit with oil, barrel cleaning rod, and tools for mounting and adjusting your optics and accessories
Eye and ear protection
Sunscreen, bug spray, hat, weather appropriate clothing; We shoot rain or shine
Optional: Leather gloves, folding table, chair, and shade canopy, snack
Register Early. Cost for the event will normally be $155, but for the sake of the pilot program, we’ll start it at $65 per person, and we’ll only take on max 6 students this first class. Those who register with a friend save $20! There will be no early discount this time around, since we only have 6 spots, and all will sell out in the first day or two.
